Energy sources

Oil has been historically the world’s most used energy source
accounting for approximately 39% of the global energy consumption.
Oil is used for heating and transportation most notably, as fuel for gas-
powered vehicles. Coal has also been one of the fastest growing fossil
fuels owing to China’s rapid industrialization. Coal consumption in the
last ten years has grown at 2.9% on an average to become 28% of the
global energy consumption. Coal is a major source of energy in the
production of electrical power using steam generation. Those are the
most common types of energy sources but gas can be also considered a
common type which takes 22% of the global energy consumption.
Solar energy is the most unused energy which gets to only 0.93% of
global energy consumption. The initial cost of purchasing a solar system
is fairly high. This includes paying for solar panels, inverter, batteries,
wiring, and for the installation. Also another reason that solar energy is
not used a lot is that although solar energy can still be collected during
cloudy and rainy days, the efficiency of the solar system drops. Solar
panels are dependent on sunlight to effectively gather solar energy.
Wind, nuclear energy, and hydroelectricity are also sources of energy
that are not commonly used these days.
