Opening Review - Interpersonal hook - Do Now reflection and discussion 
What are morals and values? 
How and when do we learn them? 
 
Segway How do children around the world learn morals and values? 
Familiar Example: “The tortoise and the hare” taught the 
importance of patience 
 
Activity/Body (2-3 classes) With a partner, students will research and explore different 
cultural folktales used to teach children about morals and values. 
Students are to choose a specific region or country, create a 
presentation and choose 2-3 folktales, and share with the class.  
Presentations should include the moral or value taught and a 
reflection on the importance of learning these lessons through 
cultural folktales. 
**Ideal circumstances would allow for elementary school classes 
down the street to come visit the class and see student 
presentations.

What did you learn about moral development on a global level? 
How does this realization inform the way you interact with those 
different from yourself?
