0 Methodology

This presents the methods and procedures the researchers used to have relevant findings for
the study. Especially, this includes research design, locate, population and samples, data gathering and
procedures, escope and limitation, research instruments and statistical treatment.

3.1 Research Design

This study made use of the quantitative type research employing descriptive survey of the
research in the conduct of the study.

Quantitative research design is the standard experimental method of most scientific disciplines.
These experiments are sometimes referred to as true science, and use traditional mathematical and
statistical means to measure results conclusively. Quantitative experiments all use a standard format,
with a few minor inter-disciplinary differences, of generating a hyphothesis to be proved or disproved.
This hyphothesis must be provable by mathematical and statistical means, and is the basis around which
the whole experiment is designed (Shuttleworth, n.d)

While descriptive research methods are pretty much as they sound – they describe situations.

They do not make accurate predictions ( Hale, 2018). Descriptive research is a study designed to depict
the participants in an accurate way. More simply put, descriptive research is all about describing people
who take part in the study (Kowalczyk , 2018)

This questionare is divided into two (2) parts: Part 1- What is the effect of peer tutoring on the
tutee’s Academic Performance, and Part 2- The cause of peer tutoring

3.2 Locale

This study was conducted in Lucena City National High School, Barangay Ibabang Dupay ,
Lucena City.

3.3 Population and Sample

The population of the study was 100 people, respondents from 2935 Junior High School
students of Lucena City National High School.
Table 1

Population and Sample Size

Grade Level Population Sample Size

Grade 7 894 25

Grade 8 748 25

Grade 9 659 25

Grade 10 634 25

Total 2935 100

3.4 Instruments

The research instruments was used to collect the data on “Impact Of Peer-tutoring on Academic
Performance As Perceived by the Selected Lucena City National Highschool Students” was a modified
questionnaire which was composed of two parts namely:

Part I . Effects of peer tutoring on the tutee’s Academic Performance

Part II . The quantity of tutee’s that are involved in peer tutoring

3.5 Scope and Limitation

The main purpose of the study is to determine on “ Impact of Peer Tutoring on Academic
Performance As Percieved by the Selected Lucena City Nationl High School Students”

Lucena City National High School Students from grade 7-10 has 2935 sttudents

3.6 Data Gathering and Procedure

The validate questionnaire was submitted to the adviser for validation researcher submitted a
letter and sought the approval and endorsement of the principal.

Next, the researchers personally distributed the data. Finally, the data was collected.
3.7 Statistical Measurement

The following statistical tools were use:

1. For sub-problem number one on the quantity of the tutee’s, percentage as used with the formla:

1. p= ( nf ) x 100
Where P= percentage

f=frequency

n=total of the respondents

1. For sub-problems number two on Impact Of Peer Tutoring on Academic Performances As

Percieved by the Selected LCNHS Students”. Reapectively, weighted mean was utilized wiyh
the formula below:

WM=(¿ ¿

Where:WM= weighted mean

f= frequency
w= weighted scale
n= total number of the respondents
