Universal Design for Learning (UDL):
Kahoot! allows for students to use technology is the classroom. I can adjust the time allowed for students to
answer each question to fit the needs of my class. Kahoot! provides the question on the board for the
students to see, but does not provide the question with answer choices for the students to see on their
screen, I will have my students sit closer to the screen in the front of the classroom to combat this issue. This
platform engages students in the lesson because of the game atmosphere it creates. Kahoot! allows you to
insert pictures to go along with the questions, which supports visual learners.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Before this activity students will be learning about plant and animal cells. Students will create a model of
either a plant or animal cell after gathering information on the cell. Students will have a gallery walk to view
everyone’s model. This Kahoot! will be used to assess student’s knowledge on plant and animal cells. The
information gathered will be used to put students into groups to review for the test.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☒ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):
Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:
Students will be allowed to use their phones during Kahoot! If students do not have a device, they may use
the laptops and iPad available in the classroom. Students will answer the questions to Kahoot!

Student Response and Assessment Tools
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☒ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open‐ended response or fill‐in the blank ☐ Longer open‐ended response
If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8‐10):
Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?
☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre‐select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
I will select the correct answers, so that students could see if they got the answer right and self‐evaluate their
knowledge on the subject.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the students have taken the quiz on Kahoot! I will place the students into study groups for the test.
Students will be placed in groups based on how they performed on the quiz and how they self‐assessed their
knowledge.
How will the data be used?
The information from this assessment will not be used as a grade. It will be used as a formative assessment to
check students understanding of the topic. Based on this data students will be placed into study groups based
on what they need to work on in order to be successful on the upcoming test.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
I hope this activity will help students to understand their level of knowledge and self‐assess themselves and
where they stand on understanding a topic.
Reflective Practice
This activity could be done on a number of student response tools. It could be extended by having groups
create their own Kahoot to test each other’s knowledge of plant and animal cells.
