The drum notation is pretty weird.

It just seems so inefficient to me to use the

same notation for both the crash and the ride cymbal. I'll admit that I
really like the look of the drum parts. Having the bass and snare drums
where they are just looks so cool! In my opinion, the bass drum should be the
lowest on the staff -- with the modern "standard" a low tom can actually be written
below the bass drum (of course this is an exceptional situation).
It also seems that downstems are heavily favored in the drum parts.
How I would change it: Make the crash cymbal the first line above the staff (x
notehead still).

As for the grace notes, I honestly have no idea. All the copyists learned the style
from the same course at CalArts (source: an interview with Art Jarvinen and
personal correspondence with Lee Scott), so it's possible that that's what was
taught.
The problem is that there doesn't seem to be any logic to whether the stems go up
or down. In some cases, it's so that slurs are more legible/aesthetically pleasing,
or to make a note fit in tightly-spaced situations. In other cases, there's no
clear reason.
How I would change it: I feel that the standard of grace note stems ALWAYS up is a
little odd, and maybe even outdated. I think that they should be stemmed so as to
facilitate writing slurs, but favoring upstems.
