CHECKLIST FOR INTERNAL PLUMBING WORK

a) DESIGN STAGE
1) All the plumbing services ie commode, bath fixtures and wash basin should
be planned on the one wall of the toilet so as to save plumbing material and to
avoid extra bends in pipes.
2) The ceiling beams on all side of toilet should be upto 600mm depth so that
boiler inlet and outlet points can be concealed well above 7 ft height ie usual
wall tiling height and also these points can be then well above false ceiling if
any which is usually at 7’6” above FFL.
3) There should not be any inverted beam on the duct side of toilet so that drain
pipes are straight away connected to down take lines without core cutting.
4) There should not be any column at the duct side corner of the wall on which
all plumbing services ie commode, bath fixtures and wash basin are planned
so that water inlet pipe can straight away come inside toilet without additional
ledge wall. Chiselling of column or any RCC member should be strictly
avaoided.

b) EXECUTION STAGE
1) Check the level of the nahani trap before waterproofing work with respect to
the FFL of the toilet/bathroom.
2) Concealed pipe line layout should be marked on the plastered wall as per the
drawing considering standard heights of Bath fixtures, commode, wash basin
etc from FFL and as per the tile joints. ( Standard heights are given in the
report in Technical reports section on www.buildinfo.co.in)
3) Concealed pipes should be laid vertically or horizontally with proper
alignment.
4) In case of GI pipes, check that the pipes are coated with coal tar/black Japan
and covered with kiltan/Hessian cloth. The hot water line should be covered
with asbestos rope to avoid heat losses.
5) Check that the concealed pipes do no protrude outside the plaster surface.
6) Concealed pipes should be tested for leakages using pressure testing gauge
equipment at a pressure of 5 to 10 Kg/sq cm. Ghabadi/ trenches should be
allowed to finish only after testing.r
7) Make sure that Ghabadi / trenches are finished with mortar by skilled mason
in plumb and level with the surrounding rough plaster. Its curing shall be done
for a period of 7 days.
8) All the pipe openings and nahani trap/ P trap openings should be properly
plugged.

1) Make sure that all the bath fixtures, commode, wash basin are fixed properly
and they are not moving.
2) Make sure that there is no leakage from the taps and the water pressure is
enough and uniform.
3) Cleaning of toilet tiles with acid should be avoided and all the CP/bath fittings
should be covered with plastic during cleaning to avoid damage of plating.
4) Make sure that the sanitary ware is not cracked and all CP/bath and
sanitaryware are properly cleaned.
