Project Proponents: Grade 11 Students Objective: To innovate a catapult that can be used to explain the conservation of mechanical energy and the principle of projectile motion behind its mechanism. Project Rationale: This project aims to develop the creativity among the students. This also encourages them to be more innovative about the existing technology. It will give them the chance to expand their ideas which might become a stepping stone toward developing scientific literate citizens. Description: The students must design and create their own catapult. It will be evaluated based from the rubric that will be given to them. The output will be presented together with laboratory report. Materials to be used: You may use anything that can be found at home. Monitoring and Evaluation Criteria Standard Dimension The catapult must not exceed a 15 % height of 6 inches and a width of 6 inches. Range The catapult must reach the 15 % farthest range or must not lesser than 3 meters. Durability The catapult must be stretched 15 % multiple times, at least after three trials. Creativity The catapult must be presentable 20 % and unique. Presentation The student must be able to explain 15 % the conservation of mechanical energy and the principle of projectile motion. Laboratory report The must be able to produce a 20 % laboratory report with the correct format and complete methodology with documentation on how the catapult was constructed.
