1. The REPUBLIC ACT NO.

7687 Scholarship (RA 7687) provides scholarship slots


to poor but deserving students whose families’ annual gross incomes do not exceed the
poverty threshold limit. The scholar must pursue a course in the field of science,
mathematics and engineering leading to a Bachelor of Science degree.

 The importance of RA NO. 7688 is to produce skilled and trained


Engineers and Scientists thru the scholarship granted by the government,
this will help our country to establish our own inventions and helps our
economy and industry grow.

2. REPUBLIC ACT NO. 8293 June 6, 1997

AN ACT PRESCRIBING THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY CODE AND


ESTABLISHING THE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY OFFICE, PROVIDING FOR
ITS POWERS AND FUNCTIONS, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

 The importance of REPUBLIC ACT NO. 8293 is to protect and secure


the exclusive rights of scientists, inventors, artists, and other gifted
citizens to their intellectual property and creations, particularly when
beneficial to the people, for such periods as provided in this Act. The use
of intellectual property bears a social function.

3. REPUBLIC ACT No. 2067

AN ACT TO INTEGRATE, COORDINATE, AND INTENSIFY SCIENTIFIC AND


TECHNOLOGICAL RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT AND TO FOSTER
INVENTION; TO PROVIDE FUNDS THEREFOR; AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.

 Strengthen the educational system of the country so that the same will
provide a steady source of competent scientific and technological
manpower;
  Promote and encourage the dissemination of the results of scientific and
technological research and the general application thereof;
 With the approval of the President of the Philippines, to formulate
consistent and specific national scientific policies and prepare
comprehensive scientific and technological programs which shall be
observed and implemented by the Government and all its subdivisions,
agencies and instrumentalities;
4. REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10535 AN ACT TO SET THE PHILIPPINE STANDARD
TIME (PST) IN ALL OFFICIAL SOURCES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY, TO
PROVIDE FUNDS FOR THE INSTALLATION, OPERATION AND
MAINTENANCE OF SYNCHRONIZED TIME DEVICES TO BE DISPLAYED IN
KEY PUBLIC PLACES AND TO DECLARE THE FIRST WEEK OF EVERY YEAR
AS NATIONAL TIME CONSCIOUSNESS WEEK

  Information Campaign. – All national and local government offices,


including all schools, public or private, shall conduct a continuing
information campaign about the value of time and the need to respect the
time of others, in order that the people may realize the imperative of
synchronizing the official time.
  Implementing Guidelines. The PAGASA, in coordination with the DOST,
the NTC, the Department of Transportation and Communications
(DOTC), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG),
the Department of National Defense (DND), the Department of Health
(DOH), the Department of Education (DepED) and the Commission on
Higher Education (CHED), shall promulgate the necessary guidelines for
the effective implementation of the calibration and synchronization of the
timekeeping devices and implementation of this Act within ninety (90)
days from the effectivity of this Act.
 Institutionalization of the "National Time Consciousness Week". The
"National Time Consciousness Week" shall be institutionalized and
celebrated every first week of the year.

5. Republic Act No. 8439 December 22, 1997

AN ACT PROVIDING A MAGNA CARTA FOR SCIENTISTS, ENGINEERS,


RESEARCHERS AND OTHER SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY PERSONNEL IN
GOVERNMENT.

 Science and Technology Career System. - A career system for science


and technology personnel in the service of the government which is
patterned after the Scientific Career System (SCS) shall be formulated by
the DOST in coordination with the Civil Service Commission.
 Salaries. - The existing law on salary scales of government employees
shall not apply in determining the salary scale of science and technology
personnel as defined in Section 5 of this Act. A new salary scale shall be
developed by the Department in consultation with the Department of
Budget and Management and the Civil Service Commission, subject to the
approval of the President.
 Scholarships and grants. - S & T personnel in public and private sectors
shall be entitled to avail of scholarship benefits and grants for pursuing
undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate or training courses in accordance
with a Scholarship Program to be implemented by the Department.
Grantees of the program may study within the Philippines or abroad
provided that the Department shall provide strict measures to ensure their
return to the country to render the service obligation.
