Student Housing

Need for the study:

During the recent years there has been a rapid increase in the number of students entering
in higher education. This naturally has its effect on the booming of the private housing
sector. There is 36 million students enrolled in the higher education. In which 8 million are
migrant students. In this only 1.6 million bed space available. Others are being catered by
private hostels, PGs and Apartments.

5 major points supporting the idea of good residential systems are:

1. The absence of recreational spaces.

2. Growing congestion and general deterioration of housing condition
3. Increasing mobility of students from their home city.
4. Rise in the institutional facilities.

Aim :

Aim is to provide a Student Housing which will meet the following types of needs:

 The idea of student housing is to have a common living and meeting place of
students fro different institutions
 It also serve to know and understand one another through informal associations
outside the classroom & cultural interest, Community, Social, Daily living in an art of
living.

Objectives

 To develop the area in accordance with ‘feel like home’(concept)

 Recreational and Sports facilities.
 Safty for both boys and girls.
 Library and wi-fi zones.
 Walking plaza.
 Provision of bicycle and 2 wheeler parking.
 Mess/Kitchen facilities
