Trans-Tasman – Canberra - Australia

Panui 2: October 2010

Kia Ora Girls,
We are only a month away from our Labour Weekend camp. I know some of you will be coming out of your
winter codes, preparing for exams and other stress’s that life brings, but this campaign needs to become your
priority from now on.

Before you come into camp…10 things to think about!

• We have 14 weeks until our Tour. This weekend is about taking the first step in the
direction of beating Australia Girls once and for all.
• Remember that this is a New Zealand Campaign, your parents are investing thousands of
dollars into you and the best way to pay them back is by committing hard to your training requirements.
• You have been selected because you are one of our top 20 players in NZ….
don’t forget that. Let those abilities shine this weekend.
• You will be fitness tested at camp. A minimum of 9 – Beep or 14 Yoyo is expected. You
might as well not attend this camp if a 9 is unachievable.
• Players will be ranked 1-16 this weekend and the final squad confirmed on Nov
28. Don’t count on other’s not being their best so that you can make the team…Be your
best so you earn your spot in the team
• Come to camp ready for Touch. Winter is over….Touch is HERE!
• You will be tested in many ways over the weekend. What you do, how you do it,
and how
you handle certain situations at camp will tell management a lot about you.
• There will be a lot of time for good times, laughs, and humour… we promote it
but when
it is training time you need to be able to switch on. We do not want you leaving at the end of the
camp saying I could have given more.
• Positive, supportive, and mentally strong team players (on and off the field) are
what we
are looking for. Is this you? Can you develop these characteristics?
• We are a team and we will respect and support each other. A strong team unit
will be
the difference between Winning and losing.

Camp preparation
Notebook
Touch boots and sneakers
You will all need to prepare a personal PowerPoint, speech or presentation telling us about YOU. No
exceptions – It will need to be approx 2 minutes long.
Bring a quote or story that motivates you.
Make a list with at least 3 reasons why you think you were selected into this squad.
An honest diary of all food intake, and exercise output for the month of October through to our camp
date.
A fun game for us to play during our down time.
