Indirect speech: Peter said to be careful if you go out during the storm.
They said, “Read the weather report.” They said to read the weather report.
She says, “Don’t go out without a full tank of gas.” She says not to go out without
a full tank of gas.

1. Use quotation marks in direct speech .
2. In indirect speech , the verb in an imperative becomes an infinitive.
3. Use not + an infinitive in negative statements in indirect speech .
