METHOD STATEMENT
Equipment selected for the Alfaisal University HVAC System consist of five (5) ‘Carrier’
Centrifugal water-cooled type Liquid Chillers model 19XR 7071477DKH62S
1. Single stage ‘Hermetic Type’ centrifugal compressor complete with motorized variable guide
vanes, internal transmission gears, Cast iron impellers, bearings and integral lubrication system
with auxiliary pump.
3. Cooler and Condenser section – fabricated with 0.025” thick H.P. copper tubes /steel shell
and tube sheets / steel water boxes.
4. Metering valve to maintain proper liquid level of refrigerant in the Heat exchanger.
The physical dimensions of each Liquid Chiller of the ‘19XR’ model are as follows:-
Length – 4.400m x Width – 2.124m x Height – 2.245m
Rigging Weight – 13,561 kg
4
METHOD STATEMENT
The water-cooled Centrifugal Liquid Chillers will be located on 200 high concrete plinths at the
Ground floor area of the Utility Building (Grid 1-6/A-D)
5
METHOD STATEMENT
6.0 Logistic
Transportation of Equipment to site shall be via five (5) Heavy duty Trailers. Schedule delivery
should be by 9 Sept 06.
Unloading shall be at selected area i.e. open space beside the Utility Block and ‘Future Ice
Storage’ at Grid 3-4/D.
(refer to attached A4 sketch – Utility Ground Floor Proposed Chiller Temporary Storage)
6
METHOD STATEMENT
(a) Preliminaries
Preparation of Preliminaries shall be from 2 Sept 06 to 7 Sept 06.- consist of the following:-
Physical installation of five (5) units shall be from 9 Sept 06 till 20 Sept 06
7
METHOD STATEMENT
To carry out the exercise, we proposed to provide seven (7) skilled personnel.
Procedures – four (4) stages are proposed:-
(a) Chiller Equipment units on arrival shall be hoisted to the temporary storage area
(refer to A4 sketch plan view of location – Proposed Chilled Temporary Storage)
8
METHOD STATEMENT
(b) The next procedure is to route the Chiller into its location i.e. by hoisting Chiller onto the
entrance of loading dock of the Utility Block. Loading area consist of a 10mm thick Flat
steel platform.
This platform shall be supported by steel scaffolding. Placed on the flat steel platform will be
dimensionally arranged steel I-Beams of 250 x 250 x 10mm thick.
(refer A4 sketch of the temporary loading dock - ‘Load Skates Position’ / section A-A)
SECTION A-A
9
METHOD STATEMENT
(c) A array of ‘Rail’ system using 250 x 250 x 10mm thick I-Beams shall form the route to
five (5) nos. ‘Chiller’ concrete plinths.
10
METHOD STATEMENT
(d) To ‘transport’ the Chillers to destination, four (4) Heavy Duty Load Skates’ of nominal
tonnage of 10Tons each will be strategically placed on the I-Beam.
These Chiller units shall then be mechanically ‘rolled’ to and placed on the concrete plinths.
(refer to A4 sketch plans – ‘Load Skates Position’ and section A-A and Steps 1 – 3 –
Proposed Chiller Installation Routing for CH10/1)
11
METHOD STATEMENT
(e) Once the Chillers are positioned, four (4) spring isolators will be installed on the four (4)
ends of the Chiller steel foundation frame.
