CAPITALISM: NOT AN EXPLOITATION

Technological advancements continue to proliferate in today’s society. People continuously seek for new
innovations that seem to be almost impossible to believe how these developments changed our lives. Multinational
companies like Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, Google, Samsung Electronics, and such are just few of the major role
players in the improved civilization of the world. These successful companies have with them thousand of workers who
helped them develop their products and launch them in the market.

According to Forbes, Apple Company created or supported more than five hundred thousand jobs for United States
workers: from the engineer who helped invent and conceptualized their apple products to the delivery person who brings it
to your door. In the Marxism’s notion of justice, this is an exploitation of the worker by the capitalist. The Marxists believe
that capitalists only hire workers to derive benefit from them by selling their labor power to the capitalists for less than the
value of the commodities that the workers produced. The extraction of the workers’ labor force is one of the evidence of
social injustice, at least for Marx.

In reality, this kind of system was never an exploitative type for the workers also gain benefits such as their salaries,
bonuses, insurances, and the like which serve as their compensation for the services they have rendered willingly. These
multinational companies also helps in the reduction of unemployment and aid the country to have a more stable and
efficient economy. These companies owned by capitalist helps diversification to be possible and offered employment
opportunities in the local level. If the society sees this system as an exploitation of one’s natural aptitude, then we will
never attain human progress.

Marx’s claim that as long as there is an employer-employee relationship there is also exploitation. In our modern
world, it is impossible for everyone to have equal circumstances knowing that we have different goals and upbringing. All of
us can never be a capitalist for it will only encourage people to be lazy and demotivated to do things in a sense that they will
not work hard to better their situation because everyone is in the equal state. People will tend to focus more on production
if they are all capitalist and no one will be willing to be a consumer which can be an implication of an unhealthy economy.

The class struggle and inequality has been with us for decades and we are still able to attain human progress. The
capitalist system may seem to exploit talents and encourage inequality, but the truth is that it gives people the opportunity
to improve their social circumstances. The workers can be a capitalist and vice-versa depending on their choices and
actions. Marxism wants to abolish private property and the capitalist system, not considering that because of capitalism we
were able to have a more advanced world. We must see jobs as opportunities and not as an exploitation of our talents. We
need to understand how far we have come and how got here with the help of the capitalist system.
