Report: Expert lecture on “Tools and Methods used in Cybercrime”

Expert Lecture on “Tools and Methods used in Cybercrime” was organized by the
Department of MCA on 11th August 2018. Dr.A. P. Nirmala, Senior Asst. Prof., Department of
MCA organized the expert lecture for the subject “Cyber Security and Cyber Law” for 3rd
Semester MCA students.

Profile of the Speaker:

Mr. Krishna kumar desiraju, Engineering Director, Indium global services Pvt. Ltd. He
has nearly 30 years of Industry Experience in various roles, responsibilities, capacities, product
development and project experience. He is an energetic manager with strong background in
technical software development and QA, who leads with vision and confidence. He Adept and
skilled at managing Software and Verification programs from concept through analysis, design,
coding, testing and first customer shipment with a reputation of meeting or beating budget and
schedule goals. He is well experienced in Product Development, Software Quality Assurance,
Services, sustaining engineering, process improvement programs, technical support, managing
issues, and problems related with business, development and customer services organizations. He
has the ability to create organizations and run them within budgets.

Objectives:

 To provide the students with an opportunity to get a insight on Cyber Crime

Technique and Tools, which are used in a growing criminal offence.
 To make the students understand cyber security threats and its impact.

Content:
 The Expert lecture began with an introduction to the speaker, Mr. Krishna Kumar. The
session was then continued by Mr Krishna Kumar who began with an introduction to why
Cybercrimes are nowadays became a serious threat in a society and what are the techniques by
which Cyber criminals are harming the society, industries and organizations.

The Speaker highlighted on Data protection and providing an overview into the
benefits of Data Privacy in the industry today, following which he spoke about Cyber Crime with
use case examples and how effectively and widely they harmed people in the society today. The
importance of having knowledge on the working of and having knowledge on how to protect
ourselves from a cyber threat is vitally important in the field of Cyber Security today.

Following which, Mr. Krishna Kumar shed a light on the cyber tools which are KALI
LINUX, DARK WEB, TOR BROWSER, etc which are emerging technologies and how
effectively it is being used in the field of cybercrimes.

Mr. Krishna Kumar then continued by providing a deep insight into the forms of cyber-
attacks and how hackers can use them to harm your computer or steal personal information with
a Real-time example on how it can be used for illicit purposes. He then briefly spoke about the
various problems that have been resolved with the help of cyber forensics.

 The session ended with a vote of thanks and appreciation to Mr. Krishna kumar for taking
the time out to educate the students on Cyber Crimes Tools and Methods. The students were
interacted with the speaker even after the end of the session.

Outcomes:

 The students were given an insight into the relevant real time examples of cyber
crimes.
 The students were able to understand techniques and tools used.
 The students were able to know on how to protect ourselves from a cyber threat
which is vitally important in the field of Cyber world.
