Consider a situation you know about where two groups see themselves as being in
competition with one another. How far have these groups become involved in an
escalation of conflict as described above? How has this affected the communication
between the members of the two groups?

I would talk about organizational groups in our country, suffering, moral violence, physical
violence, suicide, burnout syndrome, some evocative words, which more and more frequently
trace the contours and constitute the content of the world of contemporary work. The various
actors in the professional world, as well as researchers specialized in the thematic of work,
report an amplification of the deterioration of working conditions and relationships,
Then the competition between the groups can generate conflicts which can result in several
forms, whatever is physical or moral, and I can give the example of a conflict between the
worker syndical and the general administration, this problem is due to the lack of
communication and the non-fulfillment of worker syndical demands
And about the communication, I can say that it seems that communication provides an
opportunity for group members to form agreements and commitments with one another to
cooperate. If these agreements and commitments are kept, a norm for cooperation emerges
within the group, enhancing trust among the members.

What are the common stereotypes of the different cultural groups in the workforce in
your region? How do these stereotypes affect relations between members of different
groups?
How are these stereotypes reinforced by local/national media?

In my opinion stereotypes emerge as cognitive facilitators, reducing the complexity of the

information to be processed and promoting the production of rapid judgments. Their
contributions also lie in maintaining the cohesion of social groups and a sense of identity. As
a result, the stereotyping of the other is not without potential negative effects, the main ones
of which are:
 depersonalization: it assimilates individuals to groups, conceals their singularity and
attributes to them presupposed characteristics
 devaluation: it leads to self-glorification of its group and to denigrate the exo-groups

Exercise.p6

Review your organization (or one you are familiar with) in terms of its cultural
composition. How many different cultures are represented? How are these different
cultural groups treated by the organization?

The president of CGEM considers that Cultural diversity constitutes one of the main forms of
diversity that makes up humanity.
And he said also “We live in a culturally diverse society. However, the most companies do
not reflect this diversity in membership of their work teams and staff. In addition, certain
groups of people face enormous difficulties in accessing employment.”

So in my opinion Cultural diversity is therefore opposed to the so-called "clash of

civilizations" and the perverse effects of economic globalization which places goods at the
center of the world. It conveys the idea of a new dialogue in which a contract of trust is
established in such a way that each culture is both represented and visible, that it has the right
of the city and the right to speak.
