To Whom It May Concern,

It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Rhiannon Petrisko. I have had the
opportunity to serve as Rhiannon’s University of Mount Union supervisor for her preclinical and
clinical experience in general and special education.
During her preclinical, Rhiannon participated in the general education classroom and the
special education setting. She was an asset within the classrooms and provided guidance and
assistance while being a part of the staff.
Rhiannon was not a student to sit and observe, but rather went from child to child to check
work and offer assistance. The students responded well to her calming voice and relaxed
mannerisms. She treated all the students with respect and was aware of their diverse nature
and learning styles. She also adapted to the variety of teaching skills of the teachers that were
her mentors.
While serving in her preclinical settings, Rhiannon developed successful lesson plans which
took learning styles and assessments into consideration and followed the discipline set up in
the classrooms. Her questioning techniques evolved and were on target with the academic level
of her students.
Rhiannon started her student teaching in general education and moved into special education.
In both settings, Rhiannon was comfortable planning lessons and differentiating them for the
diverse needs of the students. The plans she develops met the standards found in state
mandates. She does a magnificent job of classroom management with keeping students
focused and performing to their highest ability level. This occurs whether it is an individual,
small group or large group setting. Rhiannon is patient, punctual, dependable, and fits well into
her school setting with students and staff. She has earned respect and affection of both. I
believe these characteristics would shine through wherever she teaches.
It is my opinion that Rhiannon is an excellent candidate to be a part of your teaching staff.
Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Cynthia Stoughton
