1.0 INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this Method Statement and methodology is to describe the procedures that Abdul

Mohsen AH Al-Tamimi Partners Co. will adopt in the production, transportation, installation and

quality inspection of Type IV Saudi Aramco Chain Link Fence in Aramco’s South Ghawar UR

Early Works & TCF, located at South Ghawar, Eastern Province, KSA.

2.0 SCOPE OF WORKS:

2.1 GENERAL DESCRIPTIONS :

The Project, proposed installation of Chain Link Fence posts installation of identified location by
SAPMT as per drawing provided by the Client’s Standard drawing.

2.2 Tools of Equipment and Plan

2.2.1 Tools & Equipment

 JCB Back Hoe Loader / Auger Driller

 Machine operated Plate compactor
 Potable Water Truck
 Mason tools
 Hand Compactor
 Boom Truck (for pre-cast erection)

2.2.2 Plant and Equipment

1. Prior to commencing work an inspection will be undertaken on all plant/offices and
equipment and the findings will be recorded on a plant/office and equipment inspection
sheet. All checks will be carried out in accordance with SAUDI ARAMCO Standards and
the relevant test will be checked ensuring that they are valid and copies keep on site.

2. The equipment to be used will be inspected by Safety Responsible for Safety SA standard
inspected daily.

2.3 General Materials

 Portland cement: Type I cement shall be used based on Exposure type in accordance with
SAES - Q - 001, Table-1 and Geotechnical Result recommendation respectively.
 Coarse Aggregate : Conform to 09-SAMSS-088, Maximum aggregates size shall be
19mm (3/4 in)
 Water shall comply with 09-SAMSS-097

2.4 Work Methodology/ Execution:

The Work will be carried out in stages in accordance with the following procedures:
2.4.1 Survey works to carry out to ensure that specific location and distances of each line posts
must be on the right positioning identified as the specific location.
2.4.2. Trench excavation to conduct using Light equipment (JCB) to expedite the excavation
on the designated location.
2.4.3. Excavation at 1097mm depth by 250mm opening to accommodate the total length of each
type IV & V pre-cast concrete post.
2.4.4 Clearing will follow on total length of excavated location and should be compacted using
machine operated plate compactor prior to proceed backfilling of general fill materials at a
initial lift of 600mm.

2.4.5. Watering compaction method will be next work and re-compact the first lift.

2.4.6. Initial installed post will keep recorded for installation to commence by approved and
witnessed by Al Tamimi Responsible and SAPID Responsible officially.

2.4.7. Second lift of 600mm will proceed repeat the sequence as stated in item 2.4.4.
2.4.8. Third and last Lift of 600mm will follow as per sequence stated in item 2.4.7.

2.4.9. Bore Holing using auger drill a diameter 250mm and 300mm base on the approved IFC
drawings on each location required to accommodate the size of 250mm x 1097mm x size of
type IV Chain Link Fence line posts, 300mm for Posts and for required diameter for Gates
following Saudi Aramco standard drawing respectively.

2.4.10. Pre installation will be recorded to verify and check the specific location and distance
each line posts with a given survey points.

2.4.11. Surface preparation, clearing the construction work area according to line and grade,
cleaning of the entire location and easy access of all needed equipment for the installation of
post.

2.4.12. Pre-casted and pre-painted (Bituminous) Line posts will erect to the prepared pre-
excavated compacted and Bore holed location of posts will follow and repeat the sequence up to
the last line of post to the corner post.

2.4.1.1 Laying out and fixation of Galvanized 250 mm diameter Pipe approved materials
supplied by SA approved supplier with PVC schedule 80 spacer v-cut in 75mm ties in the
bottom of Galvanized Iron pipe to eliminate dis-allignment while concrete pouring is ongoing in
fabrication yard.

2.4.1.2. Installation of wooden formworks at size of 50mm x 150mm to avoid formworks

moving during vibration of concrete.

2.4.1.3 After concrete hardened and achieve desirable hardness, preparation of concrete surface
finishing shall be made immediately.

2.4.1.4 Pouring / casting concrete using mechanical pump in fabrication yard area delimited.
Pouring sequence shall be done continuously to expedite workers on finishing stage the top
concrete surface using manually operated hand tolls on the top required slope finished concrete
each line post.

2.4.1.5 Formworks shall have wood bracing ample supports to avoid movement of newly
concreted pre-cast post.
2.4.1.6 Formworks shall remain until concrete achieved hardness, alignment of pre-painted
applied approved epoxy coated G.I pipes shall maintain the verticality.

3.0. INSTALLATION

3.1 Pre-casted and pre-painted Line post in fabrication yard will be conducted prior to
transporting in specific project site location.

3.2 Make the necessary preparation for concrete pouring the mason tools, concrete vibrator
hessians polyethylene sheets, clean water and curing compound for concrete curing must be
provided at site. The use of PPE's Personal Protection Equipment shall also be imposed to
all personnel.

3.3 Proper access for Boom truck for transporting and erection location should be arranged
ahead of time an advance notice must be given to site and Construction Responsible about
scheduled installation so that they can plan their work thoroughly and give way for other
next activities.

3.4 Immediately after completion of pouring, concrete is to be covered by polyethylene

sheeting and wet burlap to prevent premature drying, excessive hot/cold temperature and
mechanical disturbances. The curing shall accordance the specification section SAES-Q-

001 Chapter 10.Tag showing the casting date shall be placed on the portion done for easy
identifying curing duration.

3.5 In concrete pouring, adequate arrangements shall be made to the following:

a. To pour the concrete rapidly as possible to its final position without segregation and
contamination.
b. Prior to discharge, the truck mixer chute shall be watered a bit just to have a smooth
flow of concrete.
c. Fresh concrete shall not be contact with aluminum surface.
d. No segregation to the concrete shall be allowed during pouring.
e. Stand-by equipment such as, but not limited to, concrete pump, vibrator are to be
available throughout concreting period.
f. No concreting during adverse climate conditions which will deteriorate the quality
of the product.
g. Adequate arrangements, to obtain the required concrete surface finish, especially on
units with large surface area.
h. Plan the pouring work to abide all safety regulations and requirements generally
concreting work should be performed in normal working hours proper housekeeping
shall be done during and after work.
i. During hot season, concrete pouring should be scheduled early in the morning from
6:30 am to 12:10pm only depends on weather and allowed Temperature conditions.

3.2.0 Concrete Curing

All concrete shall be cured with specified potable water immediately after finishing flat work.
Concrete shall be protected by polyethylene sheets to avoid from premature drying,
temperature extremes and mechanical injury for the entire specified curing period.
The two systems of maintaining satisfactory moisture content are:

3.2.1 Installation and Protections

A Plasticized sheet vapor barrier in accordance with ASTM E1745, Class A minimum of 0.25
mm (10 mills) in thickness shall be placed on finished pre-casted concrete posts. Formworks
shall remain until the concrete hardened and shall relocate for the next sequence of concreting.
The worker's must have a PPE safety uniform before start the working at area designation.

3.2.1.0 Earthwork shall be carried out as per required level and slope.

3.2.1.1Compaction of filled materials on erected posts location shall be done prior to start
placing fixation Chain Link fabric.

 ACI 305 : Hot Weather Concreting

6.0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

6.1 Project Manager

The Project in Charge shall be responsible for the over-all direction, coordination and control of
the entire Item of works and Perimeter Fence up to finished scope.

6.2 Quality Assurance Person Responsible

The Quality Personnel shall be responsible for the necessary inspections and test to be carried out
for the entire activities.

6.3. Civil Site Engineer

The Civil Site Engineer/Supervisor shall be responsible for the direct execution of works involve
in the activities for installation of Perimeter Fence, Trench excavation for electro-mechanical
aspect, asphalt paving and other related as per scope item of work.

6.4 Safety Responsible

The Safety Responsible review prior to the start of work, the Safe Work Plan that must be
implemented and abide by during site Preparation.

6.5 Inspection

Al-Tamimi Project in Charge Responsible and SAPID Representative shall carry out the

necessary inspections in all activities shall be based on standard drawing given by client

Representative and Project Specifications listed in under references of this Method Statement.

7.0 Quality

At all stages of this work, the quality of work plan shall be implemented and make sure that there
will be no deviation, shall institute testing and provision of the report based on the standards set
by client representative thru Aramco standard.

8.0 Quality Control & Documents:

8.1.0 Inspection and Test Criteria

8.1.1 Each production process has designated points where inspection of materials and
workmanship are carried out. Frequency and level of inspections are outlined.
8.1.2 Method and frequency of workmanship shall be keeping in tacked, filed, recorded and
shall be always available verification purpose requested by client representative.

9.0 Control of Inspection, Measuring and Test Equipment

9.1.1 All equipment used for inspecting, measuring and testing of process control shall be
registered, controlled and shall check the document as per specification and standard.
9.1.2 All equipment shall signed certificate issued by the company performing the assurance.
Any rejected equipment shall be removed from service by the Engineer and shall not be used
until has been repaired, records shall show:
 Equipment reference/serial number & model
 Description
 Manufacturer of supplier
 Date of last certificate and name of person or company who signed and issue

10.0 Health , Safety & Environment:

10.1Safety Officer shall carry out the safety site inspections to ensure that safety requirements
laid out in safety work plan are followed during the survey work. Safety Supervisor shall review
safe work plan and safety action plan and secure Work Permit (if necessary) prior to start of the
work. Personal protection shall be provided to all personnel involved in the job.

10.2 Barricades shall be set up around the sites. Warning signs shall be posted to caution other
personnel on site of the ongoing work. The Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) of a hazardous
material shall be available whenever in use at site.

10.3 Health , Safety and Environment issues shall be guided by AL-Tamimi project safety policy
and Aramco Standards.

10.4 Work area to be kept clean, safe and easily accessible.

10.5 Appropriate PPE shall be worn at all times.

10.6 Safety Tool Box and talk shall be conducted to conscientise the operatives of the risk
involved before commencing the activity.

10.2 Equipment, Tools and Materials inspection.

All Equipment, Tools and Machines shall have to pass the inspection of Al Tamimi Safety
Responsible prior to use in site to ensure their safe-worthiness at work. Power and hand tools
shall be checked of any loose and exposed wiring. It shall be marked with color-coding tape
signifying compliance to Safety inspection.
