In January 2020, WHO declared the outbreak of a

new coronavirus disease in Hubei Province, China to
be a public health emergency of International
concern.
WHAT IS CORONAVIRUS
• Coronavirus are a large family of
viruses that cause illness ranging
from common cold to more severe
disease such as Middle East
Respiratory Syndrome or Severe
Acute Respiratory Syndrome.
• Coronavirus (COVID - 19) is a
new strain that was discovered in
2019.
• Coronavirus are zoonotic meaning
they are transmitted between
animals and people.
• Coronavirus primarily infect the
upper respiratory and
gastrointestinal tract of mammals
and birds
• The name "Corona virus" comes
from the crown like projections on
their surfaces. Corona in Latin
means "halo" or "crown".
HOW IT IS TRANSMITTED -

Coughing or Sneezing Personal Contact Contained Objects Live animals

contact
Other people could catch the disease by touching
the contaminated surfaces or objects where
droplets of infected fluid are released by the
person having coronavirus disease - and then
touching their eyes, nose or mouth.

Preventive measures to be taken to
avoid spread of Coronavirus

1. Fumigation / Fogging done by

using Fogger / External contractor.
Fogging is done by using 5% of
Quarternary ammonium compound
surface disinfectant. Fogger emits
disinfectants in the form of droplets
that is circulated in the area and
workplace is shut down for NLT 6
hours. Work shall be started only
after the cleaning is done.

It reduces the microbial load by

more than 99%.
Preventive measures to be taken to avoid spread of
Coronavirus
2. Keep workplace clean and hygienic
Surfaces (eg., desks,
tables, taps, toilet seats,
door handles etc.)
and objects (eg.,
telephones and
keyboards) need to be
cleaned daily and wiped
with disinfectants as
frequently as possible.

Disinfectants can be
•Dettol
•70% Iso Propyl Alcohol
•Dettol wipes
•Clorox disinfectant wipes
etc.
Preventive measures to be taken to avoid spread of
Coronavirus
3. Hand washing - Why to wash hands
• Millions of bacteria can be
found on hands.Given the
right condition,those bacteria
can multiply in every 20
minutes.
• Our hands are responsible
for the spread of an
estimated 80 % of common
infectious disease.
• Washing kills the virus on
your hands and prevents the
spread of coronavirus.
Hand washing - How to wash hands
Wash hands for 20 seconds or long enough
Hand washing - Disinfecting hand
Every time, handwashing wont
be possible so put sanitizing
hand rub dispensers in
prominent places such as each
and every entry and exit point of
each department/section
around the workplace.

Sanitizers could be alcohol

based sanitizers (atleast 60%
alcohol) such as Dettol,
Sterilium, Lifebuoy, 70% IPA
etc.). Try to carry pocket friendly
sanitizers so that they are readily
available with you.

2% Sodium hypochlorite is also

suggested but it can cause
rashes / dryness in the hands.

shall be made aware to wear gloves when cleaning and disinfecting
surfaces.
Cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces

should be dedicated for cleaning and disinfection only
and should not be used for other purposes. Wash the
gloves thoroughly with soap water and disinfecting
solution and keep it in a separate area. Clean
hands immediately after gloves are removed.
