Documentary: Message Sent

1. From my understanding in the video documentary, vocation is one’s calling to use

his/her personal strengths for the greater good of humanity. In my opinion, in order to
know one’s calling, the person should feel that even though he/she doesnt get paid for
the work, he is totally fine with it. What is important is the impact that they will leave.

2. In the documentary, the main calling for these people were to help poor people through
the words of God. Thus, these people had different missions. One of the Fathers was
sent to Africa to serve and spread the word of God, the other Father does community
masses across Mindanao wherein he has to traverse mountains. Brother on the other
hand does labor work in order to experience the hardships that the basic laborer
experiences, meanwhile Sister devoted her whole life to the church, if I am not
mistaken, she went into the Pink Sisters convent wherein they devote their time to
praying for people and the good of everyone. It is actually very relevant today because
their main point is for the greater good of humanity through God's works and words. And
in these times wherein there are so much things happening such as volcanic eruptions,
corona virus and bushfires, we will be needing their prayers more.

3. Vocation is not exclusive to the church. In the past vocation was exclusively used for
religion but now it is used for non-religious context. Each person has his/her own
vocation and in my opinion there is no greater vocation because to each their own. What
may seem as great to one person may not be as great to others. What is important to
one may not be as important to another.

4. With the documentary coming from the Jesuits and me coming from the Ateneo High
School, I can see the Jesuit mentality in the said film. “Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam”,
“Finding God in all things” and Magis. Coming from the AHS, we lived by these three
terms and it can also be seen from the personalities of the people in the video. First, we
find God in all things, we find the good in everything. In everything that we do, (AM+DG)
it is all for the greater glory of God. And in the things that we do “magis”, we strive to do
it to the best of our ability and do more for Christ, thus also doing more for others.
