CONTENT STANDARD: The Learner demonstrates understanding of common musical characteristics of region as well as unique characteristics of a particular
Southeast Asian country.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The Learner performs Southeast Asian songs with appropriate pitch, rhythm, expression and style.
Learning Competencies: The learner will be able to
a. Explains how the music of Southeast Asian country relates to its geography and culture;
b. Listening perceptively to music of Southeast Asia; and
c. Evaluates music and music performances applying knowledge of musical elements and style.
Specific Learning Competencies: At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:
a. Identify the vocal music of Cambodia and Myanmar
b. Classify the respective musical instruemnts

LESSON OUTLINE TEACHER`S TIPS
I. INTRODUCTION (10 Minutes)
a. Opening prayer
b. Review or Recap of the previous lessons
II. MOTIVATION (15 minutes) Students will write down their observations.
Activity 1. VIDEO PRESENTATION
The teacher will present a video of Cambodia and
Myanmar, its historical background and music history.
The students will be given 5 minutes to write their
observation about the video presented.

III. DELIVERY/INSTRUCTION (40 minutes)

Discuss the vocal/folk and instrumental music through Lecture


video on instrumental performance, sound analysis and
analysis of the music characteristics of Cambodia and
Myanmar.

IV. PRACTICE (20 Minutes)

Activity 2:
The teacher will divide the class into 4 group. They will
classify and analyze the different Musical ensembles of
Cambodia and Myanmar. They will select a representative
to report their work to the class. They will be given 10
minutes to answer and prepare.

V. ENRICHMENT (20 minutes)

Activity 3:
With the same group of Activity 2, the students will be
given a topic to discuss with their group and answer the
following questions.
Topic: Cambodian Pinpeat
Sidaw and Saung of Myanmar
Questions: What other characteristics do you see in the
different ensemble?
What commonalities do you see in the different
ensembles?
Based on the information that you got,
formulate a general idea about the music used
in the ensembles in Cambodia and Myanmar.
VI. EVALUATION (15 minutes)

Directions: Identify the following on a ¼ sheet of a paper.

musical Burmese instrument.
8. This is a distinct form often played at religious
festivals.
9. This is a small mouth organ of Saung ensemble,
10. The xylophone instrument of Pinpeat ensemble.
