INFERNO

Guidelines & Rulebook


ABOUT THE EVENT

Since its inception, Kritva which started with a mind-set of


motivating the youth to expand their horizons and reach the
pinnacle of success, has certainly come a long way. A huge part
of Kritva is the Inter-College Sports Fest. This year we present
the second edition of Inferno – The Inter-College Sports Fest of
IMI, New Delhi, Kritvaʼ20. The sports fest will provide a common
platform to the best sports talent from various management
institutes across the country.
"Confidence is preparation. Everything else is beyond your
control.”
Itʼs time to prepare yourselves to showcase your talent and
experience a balanced amalgamation of fun and challenge. Our
objective is not just to promote sports, but also instill a sense of
passion and sportsmanship.
It will feature a total of ten sporting events including Volleyball,
Throwball, Basketball, Badminton, Carom, Chess, Snooker,
Cricket, Futsal and Table Tennis. The participation from various
colleges in the Annual Management, Cultural and Sports
Festival will play a phenomenal role in bringing out the true
potential within the best players across the country.
We look forward to welcoming you in what we promise to be
an exciting tournament. Be a part of this ultimate extravaganza
and unveil the sporting prowess in you.
Please note that the registration fees for participation in the event
is Rs 500 without accommodation and with accommodation is
Rs 600.
GENERAL RULES

There is no limit on the contingent size.


The winning team in each category of sports will be awarded with prizes
irrespective of the contingent that they belong to.
All matches will be conducted on knock-out basis.
All the participants should compulsorily bring their college/university ID
Card; without which they will not be permitted to participate.
The schedule of events will be fixed, and all participating colleges will be
notified well in advance.
All teams should report at the registration desk at least 2 hours prior to the
match schedule.
Players must come with proper sports attire during the tournament and must
report promptly to the court.
All the players are requested to adhere to the IMI code of conduct (Smoking
and drinking is prohibited in the premises).
The sports conduit reserves all the rights to change the time and the venue of
the matches. The players will be duly informed well in time in case this happens.
No ʻon-field registrationsʼ will be entertained. Registration for any event will
stop one hour before the event.
Boarding and Lodging will be provided.
Any event can be deleted or added with prior notice to the POCs.
Participants only from B-Schools will be entertained.
The decision of the referees/umpires will be final and binding, no protest shall
be entertained on the field. Therefore, any team leaving the field of play and
conceding a walk over as a mark of protest shall be deemed to have lost that
fixture and will be summarily dismissed from the event.
Any protest over the decision of a referee/umpire on a point of rule, and any other
protest in connection with the tournament shall be addressed to the IMI Sports
Conduit representatives within the hour and their decision will be final.
MENʼS VOLLEYBALL

Team Composition
Team of 6 (Playing) + 3 (Substitutes) players

Rules
1. A match between two teams will be played as best of 3
sets of 25 points each.
2. Rotation of the team members is not mandatory.
3. Service rotation is compulsory: Minimum 3 players
should serve in a round-robin fashion.
4. Rally-Scoring will be used in all matches.
5. Team Captain shall be the single POC for all
communications.
6. Rest of the rules and violations are standard, and in case
of any discrepancy, the decision of the officials would be
binding. The decision by the referee is final and no arguments
are allowed.
WOMENʼS THROWBALL

Team Composition
Team of 5+1 (5 playing and 1 substitute)

Rules
1. The match between two teams will be played as best of 3
sets of 25 points each.
2. The ball must be thrown above shoulder (no side arms
allowed). The ball must be caught with 2 hands and thrown with
one hand only.
3. The ball cannot touch any part of the body beyond the
palm.
4. Spinning the ball is allowed, even for service. The ball must
be released within 3 seconds of catching. Service only after the
whistle has been blown and within 5 seconds of the whistle.
5. Service rotation is compulsory: Minimum 3 players should
serve in a round-robin fashion.
6. While catching, touch/catch by two people is not
permitted. Double touch by same person (dubs) is not
allowed.
7. Line must not be cut during service. This will cause a service
break and no re-serve will be given.
8. Player in same team can catch the ball after it touches the
net and falls back in same court only if double touch hasnʼt
happened before. This is not valid for catching a service from the
opposite team.
9. For if any part of the ball that touches the line will be
considered being in.
10. Rest of the rules and violations are standard, and in case of
any discrepancy, the decision of the officials would be binding.
The decision by the referee is final and no arguments are allowed.
MIXED TABLE TENNIS

Team Composition
Minimum 1 female and 3 males

Rules
1. A game between two teams will include 5 matches (in
the same order):
1.1. Men's singles
1.2. Women's singles
1.3. Men's Doubles
1.4. Mixed Doubles
1.5. Menʼs Singles
2. To win a match, a team needs to win at least 3 games.
3. Each of the singles and doubles game will be a best of 3
sets of 11 points each.
4. Point goes to the player who successfully ends a rally,
regardless of who has served.
5. Other standard table-tennis rules apply.
6. Rest of the rules and violations are standard, and in case
of any discrepancy, the decision of the officials would be
binding. The decision by the referee is final and no arguments
are allowed.
7. Any player can play a maximum of two matches. Also,
no player can play more than one singles.
8. Players list (who will play the matches and in which
order) must be given to the referee before the match.
MENʼS CRICKET

Team Composition
Team of 13 (11 Playing and 2 substitutes)

Rules
1. Match length is 10 overs per innings.
2. Bowling restrictions are as follows:
2.1. Only two bowlers can ball a maximum of 3 overs each
2.2. And two other bowlers can ball a maximum of 2 overs
2.3. A minimum of 4 bowlers will be required
3. In case of a draw, a SUPER OVER will decide the result.
Super Over will be played indefinitely until the result is achieved.
4. LBW will not be counted as a source of wicket.
5. Mandatory powerplay for the first 2 overs, that is, maximum
of 2 players outside the 30-yard circle.
6. Green Vicky ball will be used in the match.
7. Rest of the rules and violations are standard, and in case of
any discrepancy, the decision of the officials would be binding.
The decision by the referee is final and no arguments are allowed.
MENʼS FUTSAL

Team Composition
Team of 5 (Playing) + 2 (Substitute) players

Rules
1. The game will consist of two halves, 15 minutes each with
5 mins break in between the halves.
2. For offences, two yellow-cards will result in a red-card
and disqualification of the player from the match.
3. There is no off-side.
4. There will not be an outside throw but a kick-in from the
line.
5. For a kick from the touch-line, any delays more than 5
seconds will result in a foul.
6. Other standard football rules apply.
7. Rest of the rules and violations are standard and in case
of any discrepancy the decision of the club would be binding.
The decision by the referee is final and no arguments will be
allowed.
8. Team captain shall be the single POC for all
communications and the decision of the umpire is final and
binding.
CHESS

Team Composition
Team of 3

Rules
1. There is no restriction on the gender of the player.
2. All the 3 players will play simultaneously. Each player will
be allotted 10 minutes.
3. A checkmate within the stipulated time will lead to victory.
4. If checkmate doesnʼt happen, then the player who runs out
of time will lose the match.

5. All international rules are applicable.


6. In case of equal points, the players would get 20 minutes
extra with 2 minutes per move for each player and then the
winner would be decided based on the rule in the previous point.
7. Rest of the rules and violations are standard and in case of
any discrepancy the decision of the club would be binding. The
decision by the referee is final and no arguments will be allowed.
CARROM

Team Composition
Team of 2 and 1 substitute with no restriction on the gender

Rules
1. Each match is a best of 3 games.
2. Five points for the queen and one points each for every
black and white coin.
3. Whosoever clears the board first will be declared the
winner.
4. Rest of the rules and violations are standard and in case
of any discrepancy the decision of the club would be binding.
The decision by the referee is final and no arguments will be
allowed.
BADMINTON

Team Composition

Each team can have minimum 3 men & 1 woman

Rules

1. Each match will be decided on a best-of-3 game basis.


2. Menʼs Singles, Mixed Doubles and Menʼs Doubles in that
order.
3. Only one player can play two matches.
4. Games will be best of 3 sets - 21 points each
5. Players list (who will play the matches and in which order)
will have to be exchanged between captains before the match
and the same must be given to the referee
6. The Referee can overrule any decisions given by the
linesman and his decision will be final under all circumstances
7. Rest of the rules and violations are standard and in case of
any discrepancy the decision of the club would be binding. The
decision by the referee is final and no arguments will be allowed.
SNOOKER

Team Composition
Minimum 2 players

Rules
1. A match between two teams will have a total of 3
Games.
2. 2 Singles and 1 Doubles (2 points for each game) – 6
points.
3. Every match to be a single-frame 40-minute game until
all red balls have been potted. If all red balls have ben potted
there will not be any time restrictions.
4. Exception: There will be no time limits in the finals
5. Rest of the rules and violations are standard and in case
of any discrepancy the decision of the club would be binding.
The decision by the referee is final and no arguments will be
allowed.
MENʼS BASKETBALL

Team Composition
Team of 5 (Playing) and 2 (Substitute) players

Rules
1. A match will consist of four quarters each of 8 minutes and
two-minute break between quarters (all quarters running)
2. 2 timeouts will be allowed per quarter per team
3. Rest of the decisions will be on the discretion of the Referee
WOMENʼS BASKETBALL

Team Composition
Team of 5 (Playing) and 2 (Substitute) players

Rules
