Human Rights Institute, Kean University, Union, New Jersey, 07083 - Intern
● The Human Rights Institute at Kean was established to shine a light on human rights issues
and violations across the globe, while inspiring the next generation of activists to create a
more just and peaceful world.
● Crafted and executed events around voting as a human rights issue such as; debate watch
parties, voter registration drives, and virtual events.
● Research Kean University political climate to conclude the best way to get fellow students
civically engaged.
● Lead tours and manage the Human Rights Art Gallery featuring exhibits such as; “Art as
Witness” and “Tragedy and Tribute: Art Illuminates Ireland's Great Hunger”.
● Attend events as Rhody the Ram mascot and entertain guests by; interacting as Rhody,
taking photos, and creating a positive and fun environment.
● Work closely on a team with a Rhody ‘handler’ by building communication skills to
non-verbally express any needs while acting as Rhody.
● Help with the setup and cleanup of the cocktail and dessert hour of the party ensuring the
presentation of the room, food, and any ice or flower sculptures is as described.
● Keep storage areas clean, organized, and labeled with supplies needed for set up.
● Kean University PRISM strives to bring representation, inclusion, and diversity for the
LGBTQ+ community to Kean University which previously lacked an LGBTQ student
organization.
● Duties include overseeing the operations of other members, creating agendas for meetings,
outreach for events and collaborations with other organizations, departments, and
communities such as; Tampon Drive, Transgender Day or Remembrance candlelight vigil,
and Pre-Forum discussions at LGBTQ Educators panel.
● Cultivate a safe space for LGBTQ+ students at Kean University during PRISM meetings
where they feel safe to share personal experiences or speak on topics and issues affecting
our community.
● Assisted gym instructors in leading freshman class through gym class including; warm ups,
physical education testing, and sports skills such as; volleyball, badminton, basketball,
ultimate frisbee, and tennis.
● Assisted the BHS Peer Leaders in creating activities and guiding freshmen through their
first year.
● Represented Bergenfield High School at open house events such as; freshman orientation.

Arati for Congress
● Canvassing NJ5 neighborhoods to collect signatures to get Arati Kreibich on the primary
ballot.
● Learned about food inequality, the U.S government disaster relief in Puerto Rico after
Hurricane Maria, and the history of Puerto Rico.
● Hurricane rebuilding projects; power washing, waterproofing and fixing roofs, painting, and
gardening
● Led out of state diverse prospective students in a day of icebreakers, activities, and tours
around the University of Rhode Island campus.
● Worked with current URI students to inform and encourage high school students to pursue
higher education by highlighting the positives and helping them to understand the best
options for them.
Spring 2017
Rhode Island Planned Parenthood
● Phone banked to educate Rhode Island residents on Roe v. Wade and the negative effects
that would take place if it was overturned.
● Informed Rhode Island residents of their elected officials and encouraged them to contact
them and ask them to support the Reproductive Privacy Act to secure a women’s right to
choose in Rhode Island.
● Visited the Rhode Island state house in Providence, RI with fellow URI students to watch
the hearing for the Reproductive Privacy Act.
