Logic puzzles are a great way to wake up the brain and test one’s
ability to think clearly. They can be challenging but most of all,
logic puzzles are really fun!

Tips for students:

• Read the introduction to see what needs to be solved.
• Use the grid like a detective’s notebook to record the
information you know to be true.
• Read through all the clues and fill in the facts that you
discover as you go along.
• Look at the grid to see if you can figure out anything from
the clues you recorded.
• Then go back and reread the clues to see if you can find any
new information. Often, you will be able to use clues or find
new information that was not usable the first time.
• Use deductive reasoning. That means you should only use what
you know is true to figure out the answer.
• Guessing or using opinions might give the wrong answer.
• If you use the clues given, you can solve the puzzle.

2. Claire got Pico when he was just a small puppy. A puppy is a baby dog so we can X out both
cats
3. Trigger and the Maine Coon does not get along. This tells us they are 2 different animals so
we know Trigger is not a Maine Coon.
4. The boxer’s name does not begin with a “T.” This tells us the boxer’s name is not Tank or
Trigger
5. Tank is either the boxer or the poodle. Since we found out Pico is the boxer, that leaves us
with Tank being the poodle

boxer and Gwen with poodle.

Each of these contain 4 difficulty levels per set. From our experience, age or
grade level doesn’t always determine if a student can solve a particular logic
puzzles. We have found that the different levels allow students of differing
abilities to all succeed. Another plus? Those who have mastered the difficult
levels take pride in helping others succeed.
