ANNOUNCEMENT
Dear Indonesian Society

The World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic on Wednesday as the new coronavirus, which was
unknown to world health officials just three months ago, has rapidly spread to more than 121,000 people from Asia to the
Middle East, Europe and the United States. As a Government Organization, we continue to express our genuine
sympathies to the individuals, communities and nations facing the outbreak of COVID-19. We have been working
drudgingly to respond to this continuously changing situation, doing so by monitoring the security of society who uses the
internet in daily life.

Posts that often appear on social media are often unsettling because the majority of the hoax. As intelligent people, we
need to be careful before sharing In this precarious situation, many irresponsible people spread hoax news. Many people
tend to like opinions that are in line with their own personal views, ideologies, and principles, even though they are not in
accordance with facts. They take sides based on their biases and emotions, not what is objectively true, but added that we
should not be discouraged or pessimistic. We must remember that there are still people with open-minded attitudes who
might read news on social media or at least think about what they read.

As Indonesian society, we need to work together in dealing with COVID-19, by being a person who is good at sorting
news. Here’s the list of what we should do and shouldn’t do in the social media in dealing with COVID-19.

As a government, we urge citizens to do the following things

1) Develop a sense of curiosity at all times, don't immediately spread news without checking the truth.
2) Be careful with provocative titles.
3) Find out the authenticity of the site's page address
4) Pay attention to the authenticity of the photo
5) Take an active part in helping fight the spread of false news and keeping the cyberspace clean, by reporting to
the Ministry of Communication and Information if you find hoax news

As a government, we urge citizens not to do the following things

1) Immediately believe the news/story without checking the truth of the source
2) Have a low level of understanding of social media
3) Do not understand the level of truth of the information
4) Immediately panicked after reading the news with excessive titles
5) Do not care or let the person who is spreading hoaxes
