Business Week 2019

Assignment #2

October 11, 2019

Chester Franz Kennedy C. Cariit THED2

2AAC Prof. Daluping

1. Significance of the seminar attended in the Business Week

-I have attended multiple seminars during the Business week and I am also in-charge of

the registration. The one thing that all these seminars taught me is that I should always remind

myself of my goal without losing my values and principles in life. The morning seminar I

attended was about empathy and sympathy which talked about their difference and their

importance not only in businesses but also in building relationships and great bonds with your

family, friends, colleagues, and lovers. The seminar given to us by Alexander Cabrera, Chairman

of Integrity Initiative Inc. and PWC/Isla Lipana & Co., was all about learning what to do during

these times and how to deal with it without hurting someone in the process or making the

situation worse. The gist of the seminar is to learn when to empathize and sympathize and

knowing who needs it or how he/she should be approached to make him/her to feel more

comfortable when opening up to you. It is something that most people lack nowadays as most

people are insensitive and they all think that their method or way of empathizing or sympathizing

works on everybody and has the same effect but most of the times they just make the situation

worse than it already is.

2. Relevance in the Realization of the school’s vision/mission.

-The seminars/workshops have different focal points but all point out to serving the

community and being globally competitive, which is part of our school’s vision and mission. The
“Red Flag” hosted by the JPIA, talked about fraud—the main problem in which it hinders the

economic growth of our country significantly. This seminar talked about how we should address

this problem since everyone in attendance are aspiring CPAs. The talk focused solely on how we

should think not only for ourselves but also for the betterment of the country as a whole. This

being its advocate makes it relevant as it is in line with the school’s mission and vision which is

to serve the community and being globally competitive in the aspect of helping the development

of the country. As an aspiring CPA, this type of seminar is timely and relevant as it shapes the

way we think as early as today because some accountants are responsible for most of the

fraudulent acts that are present in the business world.

3. Challenges that the activities brought to your awareness and how you should respond to them.

-The activities held during the business week challenged my awareness in a way that

makes me want to know more about how the business world works and the challenges it brings

to the table. These challenges are lessons that are to be learned and applied as they help you

build your character and your ability to overcome them.

Given that the speakers were all experienced, it gave us the motivation and thrive to do

everything in the best of our skills and abilities to become the role model that they are to us.

Despite their efforts to share their experiences, I somehow got frightened because these

challenges may vary from person to person and they might be hard to overcome; but as the talk

goes and more speakers shared their experiences, they all have something in common—they can

all be overcome and we can learn from them. The way they shared their experiences inspired us.

It is because they did not take the challenges they have faced in the past as something that is

impossible to do instead they took it as a test that they need to pass in order to improve.
