Student A’s hand, turns his body towards the other teacher and looks up as Student A is

taken away from the situation. Diego then plays with the toy car along the window sill

Part 2:

Difficulties We Encountered while Strategies We Used while Recording our

Recording our Running Records: Running Records, to be Successful:
● Making sure that the running record ● Watch the video couple times to
is in present tense understand what Diego was doing
● Ensuring that we weren’t using “he ● Write what was observed on a
played, he went” (Fitzgibbon, 2020) separate piece of paper
● Recording all behaviours instead of ● Making sure that the information is
just specific categories of behaviour valid and correct
(Fitzgibbon, 2020) ● Retelling what the student actually
did in sequence (Fitzgibbon, 2020)

How will you apply some of these strategies when conducting Running Records in
class, as an EA?

When completing the running record in class, I will observe only the student that I am
working with. In addition, I will write the correct timing in chronological order as well as
writing the statements or gestures that were observed. I will also ensure that I am
recording all behaviours instead of targeting one, including unexpected behaviours. This
will allow the observation to be precise, non-bias and to provide all the correct
information.
