CAUSE

Strike out arthritis comes to ESU

East Stroudsburg, PA, March 9th 2020 - Summer Server is a Junior here at ESU that holds the
position of president in the sorority Alpha Omicron Pi and is a member of SNAP. Server is a
nursing major from Souderton PA, and made her decision to come to ESU after she was
declined for her first option of nursing school.

The way she built herself up to become the president of AOII is by holding the positions of VP
member selectins, assistant to finance, and assistant to recruitment and retention. Server
strives to give students here ate ESU a different voice and values her connections she has with
the student body. “There are not many ways students can use their voices unless you know
someone higher up and even then they are hardly ever heard” says Summer Server

Some large events that Server plans over the course of the year is Strike out Arthritis and Pie an
AOII. These events are all fundraisers that help support the arthritis foundation, arthritis
something that effects many people in this world, students at this school and sisters in this
sorority. AOII holds a strong bond with this foundation which is why they hold an annual event
called Strike out arthritis.

This event invited all student at ESU to create teams for a kick ball tournament for a small price
of $15, in which all proceeds go to the arthritis foundation. This is a great way to raise money
for a cause and increase involvement of the student body. “What encourages me to keep going
is seeing all the good things we are doing as an organization and how it impacts people in the
long run” says summer server.
