Teacher Leadership and Educational Reforms

Teacher leadership has always been a talk to everyone in terms of improving children
until they become the countrymen. But how would they be called teacher leaders and when?
The answer to this question is simple; it is if they do their responsibilities with all their hearts
without thinking of how much money they will be earning at the payday. At the very first time
entering the educational institution, they must put into their mind that teaching profession is not
just an occupation for those who want to teach some, but more on working vocationally and
voluntarily. Vocationally because one work to learn and develop more, teaching is a life-long
learning; and voluntarily because most of the time, they, teachers teach and give knowledge
about some things that are not included in the lesson plan, life lessons.

Yet their responsibility is not only about improving the students academically, but as
humane persons. Teaching is not only about writing lesson plans, attending meetings, passing
the LET or Licensure Examination for Teachers, and the like. The rumours about teaching such
as “this is the easiest work among all the professions all over the world” is not true, because
being in the educational institution is not easy as all the aspects of the struggles move there.
Educators experience struggles as other people do, sometimes, they have the heavier loads.
They have the responsibility that once they break it, the trust of people in them will soon
decrease. That is why; they must be knowledgeable of inculcating important stuff into the hearts
and minds of the learners, means that they must be inclined in teaching them life-long lessons
that would be used in setting directions in life to benefit them in learning such things for their
future. This will lead them to be more developed as people of the country that aim for the
achievement of the common goal, which is essential to all.

As educators, having such good characters has great impact in the development of
educational reform. This includes the positive outcomes that a school or university receives over
the time like recognition of the good conduct, wherein the community has the chance to know
that they have good quality as an educational institution. This simply shows that the good
teachers reflect the institution where they belong to. To conclude these, teachers are important
in developing people as well as the environment they are in, which could be one of the keys in
increasing the hope of the improvement of the whole society and the world.

And I have chosen this topic because it mirrors the current struggle of the world, it is the
poverty in the mind of human: lack of knowledge and education itself. At first, I always thought
that the government will be the one who could help the scarcity in the knowledge of each one of

us, but the educators. This is because their suffering in the hardships show how much they are
more aware of the situation of the poor and incompetent as they see it every day, through the
eyes of the students and the people they pass by.

In order to cure this scarcity, all the institutions must unite and think of better solutions,
which focus more on research, people and education rather than increasing the budget for
drugs and the likes! Research could also help in curing, as this will be targeting which phase of
the problem they should be start to solve. Overall, proper management and understanding
might answer the problem we currently have.

As a citizen of this country, I will start helping our fellow men by just doing simple things
such as following rules and regulations, properly pay the taxes, giving foods and drinks to those
who need it, and more, as these are the start of the change.
