I. LAN

Local Area Network (LAN) is a network that interconnects the computing


resources housed in several buildings of an organization e.g. office building
[ CITATION Gal01 \l 1033 ]

II. WLAN

Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is a wireless LAN that uses wireless
devices to communicate e.g. access point with other devices. WLAN is also
limited to a localized space e.g. home office.

III. WAN

Wide Area Network is a network that is used to connect LAN’s by way of a third-
party provider. An example would be a frame relay cloud ( provided by a telecom
provider) connecting corporate offices in Cape Town and Johannesburg [CITATION
Don07 \p 5 \l 1033 ].

IV. MAN

Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) network spans a city or large campus e.g.
municipality.

I. CD-ROM

Compact disk read-only memory is an optical disk that contains audio or software
data that the memory is read-only [ CITATION Com19 \l 1033 ].

II. Magnetic Storage Tape

A sequential storage medium used for data storage, back and archiving [ CITATION
EMC12 \l 1033 ].

III. Hard drive

A rigid magnetic disk or disks fixed within a disk drive and used for storing
computer data [CITATION Ame06 \p 149 \l 1033 ].

IV. Memory card

A removable storage device that fits into a small slot in a host device and stores
data in non-volatile RAM [CITATION Ame06 \p 197 \l 1033 ].
