Alcomer® 810 types

Alcomer 811, Alcomer 812, Alcomer 814, Alcomer 819

Solid grade cationic flocculants

Chemical Nature
Alcomer 810 types are quaternized polyacrylamide based copolymers, which exhibit
varying degrees of cationic charge and molecular weight. They are supplied as free
flowing powders.

Application
Alcomer 810 types have been specifically designed to flocculate water based drilling
muds or sludges where such wastes are thickened or dewatered using mechanical
equipment such as centrifuges. Operation over a wide pH range (4 – 9).

Properties
Appearance Off-white, granular solid
Bulk density Approx. 0.7 g/cm3
pH of 1% solution at 25 °C Approx. 4

Product name Cationic charge Molecular weight

Alcomer 811 low medium
Alcomer 812 low medium
Alcomer 814 medium medium-low
Alcomer 819 high medium-low

Advantages
Besides better dewatering and improved floc structure, UMA technology creates
more active fractions of the molecular mass distribution – the latter leading directly
to improved dose efficiency. A general consequence of this technology is that a r
obust flocculant is produced. This gives greater tolerance to changing substrate
characteristics, providing better process control.

Storage & Shelf Life

The shelf life of the product is min. 48 months from date of manufacturing if it is stored
in its sealed original packaging between 5 – 25 °C in a dry place.

It is recommended that stock solutions at 0.25 – 0.5 % are prepared regularly and for
maximum effect such solutions should be used within 5 days. Beyond this period some
loss in efficiency may occur.
