Correctly understanding spoken English is essential in order
to develop in that language.
Practically, when we begin to learn English we have a
higher level of understanding with written English (both in
terms of vocabulary and grammar) than with spoken
English. This should not be so, since learning must cover the
four skills and facilitate the evolution of the joint form
The more English you listen to, the more you will get used
to the language. However, the passive listening method is
not the most recommended if you don't yet have a certain
foundation in English. It is very useful specific to your
current level. However, when you are starting to learn, the
system that will help you the most is to listen actively to
English.
