Chapter 1 Assignment- Ethics, Morals and Current Events

Choose an article from a recent newspaper that deals with an

ethical or moral issue. Read the article and get a good
understanding of the topic and then complete the following:
Part A: Knowledge- 8 marks (2 marks per question)
Answer the following questions based on the article. Questions
should be typed in a Q & A format using proper sentences, or
paragraphs if necessary.
1) What is the ethical/moral issue being raised in the article?
2) How is society responding to the issue?
3) What solutions or suggestions can you offer?
4) How does this issue impact our global community?
Part B: Communication- 10 marks, Application-10 marks
Choose one of the three philosophers studied in chapter 1
(Aristotle, Kant or Levinas) and analyze the article from their
philosophical point of view.
How would this philosopher address the situation? Why?
According to this philosopher, what should the resolution to
the situation be?

Answer these and any other questions that arise in a one-page

response (double spaced, typed) Make sure in your answer to
outline what aspects of ethical philosophy relate to the article.
