Daily Routine 

Caring for your mind, body, family, and community 


 
Care for your mind:
Each Day:
● 40 minutes of daily reading
○ Free choice reading - pick a good-fit book and a cozy spot!
○ Check your teacher’s Google Classroom for your reading/writing assignment

● 30 minutes of math learning


○ Check your teacher’s Google Classroom for your math assignment

● 5-10 minutes of ​multiplication facts practice

● Social studies and science learning


○ Check your teacher’s Google Classroom for your assignment

Additional Options:
○ Reading and writing to learn about something new
■ Use the ​Scholastic Learn at Home​ resources to learn something new! There
are fun articles and activities posted each day.
■ Use ​EPIC​ to read and listen to books online.
■ Update your ​Biblionasium ​with the books you’ve been reading.
■ Check out the wonder of the day at ​Wonderopolis​.

● Listen to a story
○ Oakwood Read Aloud​ - check out the blog to read “A Boy Called Bat” along
with our Oakwood teachers! Take a guess at who the next mystery reader
will be! We suggest checking it around 10:40am each day. That gives you
time to listen before Mr. Kuyper’s live stream at 11am.

● Math problem solving


○ Play a ​math game​ with a sibling or adult
○ Play a math game ​online

● Science and social studies


○ Complete a science or social studies activity in your take home packet
○ Go to ​EPIC​ or ​Worldbook Online​ and research a topic you’re interested in
○ Do a ​science experiment​ (with parent permission)
○ Take a ​virtual field trip
Care for your body:
● Go outside and play for at least 60 minutes a day (weather permitting)
● Eat healthy
● Wash your hands
● Tune in to ​Mr. Kuyper’s livestream​ at 11am
● Do a ​GoNoodle​ video to get you up and dancing

Care for your family:


● Do an extra chore at home
● Use a recipe to make something for your family
● Play a game with your siblings or family

Care for your community:


● Call family members or friends who you can’t visit right now
● Write a letter to family members or friends
● Draw pictures or write letters to people in a hospital or nursing home
● Write a letter to a ​soldier
