Cry of Balintawak

This version was written by the katipunan General guillermo masangkay a childhood
friend of Bonifacio who was an eye witness of the historic event. On august 26 a big
meeting was held in balintawak at the house of apolonio samson.All leaders of
katipunan were present together with the delegates from bulacan,cabanatuan,cavite
and morong. They were there to discussed when the uprising was to take place.They
were arguing that they might started the revolution early.Bonifacio let the discussion
and go outside to talked to people and persuade that If they don’t start the
uprising,the Spaniards will get them annyway. As the people shouted “revolt” as one
Bonifacio asked everyone to destroy their cedulas as a sign that all of them declared
their severance from Spaniards.AS he returned to the session hall and informed the
leaders what happened outside. At about 5 o’clock in the afternoon as the Spaniards
were coming bonifacio,jacinto and other leaders of katipunan were distributed in
strategic position and prepare for the attack.As the shots were fired that was the
beginning of the fire later became a huge conflagration.
