Objectives of Work Immersion

The purpose of the educational programs of K-12 is to discover, improve,

and develop the learners Learning Competencies and to guide the learners to pursue

their chosen career. The work immersion is one of the programs of K-12, it gives

opportunities to the students to develop better communication. Developing better

communication helps the student to transact with others and to build a better

partnership if it is business related. It will also give them the opportunity to express

their ideas and also in solving problems. The second one is for them to adapt in a

new environment, sometimes for us to challenge ourselves we must go beyond our

comfort zone and go to a new environment. With this the students will also learn

that there is more beyond the classroom and they will also learn different flows or

movements in different environments. The third is for them to improve, develop,

and apply their competencies, once a student is in a work immersion their skills and

knowledge will improve. The development will also be part of it they will also

apply their competencies. And lastly to prepare them for employment, the students

will be prepared if ever they would choose to apply for job in the industry. The

good thing about this is they already have an idea.

Statement of Personal Goal

My personal goal is no different than any other student, however, I also have

several personal goals I hope to achieve while going on a Work Immersion. Some

of these goals are to acquire new skills and enhance my communication skills. I

also would like to apply what I learned from school to forward in my work

immersion program. I would also like know what is like to work in an office and

working with higher officials. And I also want to challenge myself when it comes

to a new environment. I also want to share ideas or help in solving any problems

that may occur, so that it can enhance my communication skills and also my critical

thinking. And lastly, I would like to know everything that I need to know so that I

can be prepared and have enough knowledge when it comes to the real world.
How to conduct oneself?

In working for a company, we must know how to conduct oneself. We may

also practice this in a work immersion. First is we must be punctual; we must make

sure we will arrive on time because it demonstrates how responsible we are when

it comes to the time. Be honest, because honesty will always be the best policy. Be

persistent, patience is a virtue. Don’t give up so easily, take it as a challenge for it

will make you better. Be Diligent, keep in mind that no one has ever succeeded

because of laziness. Be Flexible, you should always be willing to change or to learn

even if it’s already out from your comfort zone. Be Competitive, being competitive

doesn’t always mean that you need to compete with others, compete with yourself

rather, to a better version of you. But you should make sure to balance everything

so that you cannot affect other peoples’ self-esteem. Be Sensitive, always care for

the people around you. Extend your help to those who needs you, if possible, ask

them on how you may help them because you’ll never know when will you be

needing a help from them. Observe Good Manners and Right Conduct, always keep

in mind that you are not just bringing your name, rather you’re bringing the name

of your school and your family’s name.

Logo and its meaning

The seal of San Pablo city represents the 7 lakes or also known as the

“Sampaloc Lake”, since it is one of the known tourists’ destination in Laguna.

Sampaloc Lake is an inactive volcanic maar on the island of Luzon, the Philippines.

It is one of the lakes in the Seven Lakes of San Pablo, Laguna. Nearly half of the

lake's depth has a shallow depression at the lake's bottom, indicating its volcanic

origin. The lake is located behind San Pablo city hall. It is dotted with floating

restaurants along its shoreline serving delectable Filipino and Chinese cuisines. The

lake abounds with tilapia, bangus, carp, and several species of shrimps. Legend tells

of a giant Tamarind (Sampaloc) tree in the garden of a selfish, stingy old woman

who drove away a fairy disguised as an old man asking for some fruit as a cure for

his ailing grandson. Instead of helping him, the old woman had him driven away

by her ferocious dogs. The old man was badly hurt. After the old man left, there

was a thundering noise and paltering rain, followed by the cracking of the earth.

And then, the entire orchard sank into a colossal pit which was immediately filled

with water. Henceforth, the villagers called it Lake Sampaloc.

Introduction

Work Immersion refers to the part of the Senior High School (SHS)

Curriculum consisting of 80 hours of hands-on experience or work simulation

which the Grades 11 and 12 students will undergo to expose them to the actual

workplace setting and to enrich the competencies provided by the school under the

supervision of the School Head and the designated personnel of the Partner.

Immersion is done outside the school campus in a “Workplace Immersion Venue,”

defined as the place where work immersion of students is done. Examples of work

immersion venues include offices, factories, shops and project sites.

Generally, work immersion is advantageous to students who want to

experience and learn more about the life of being employed. It prepares them to the

bigger world after graduation and makes them equipped with relevant skills. It also

teaches a lot of valuable lessons that they cannot get inside the classroom. One

example is having to work in a team and interacting with real managers and bosses.

This experience can help the trainability level of a student. It can also give a little

push on the assertiveness and confidence of an individual. Accomplishing a task

that they know has a real impact on the company will boost their self-esteem as a

team player. There are a lot of advantages in work immersion, but some people also

have reservations on this program. One major point is safety. Work immersion is

an off-campus activity and is done at the student’s own expense and accord. Little

to no supervision is given to each student and school administration will only rely

on written reports submitted to them. Second, while it is inherently designed to

develop students, results vary from one student to another. While for one student it

is helpful, to another it can be stressful. Some students may find it anxiety-inducing

when they are placed in a high-pressuring environment. With these, schools should

consider both the pros and cons of work immersion and choose the best program

for their students.

Written Report on the Activities Performed

During our work immersion in the Office of Tourism in San Pablo City, the

activities that were performed are office related. On the first day of our work

immersion, we were assigned to the city tourism officers and met all of the staff in

the office. The following day we were tasked to deliver some papers and to ask for

the signatures of the officers. Since the “Coco Festival” is coming, the office of

Tourism was one of the busiest offices. We helped in arranging for the

“Pascocohan” at the lake, we helped the office staffs to organize the event. The next

day we helped in preparing the star parol’s that will be used in the event. In our

fourth day, we helped to do and bring some paper works to other offices and to ask

for them to be signed. The next day, we continued the works for the upcoming

event, we helped to attach barricades and wired it. In connection with this, we were

tasked to help clean the museo and wash the things that we will be using for the

event. The next task was to write and organize the time card and finishing them.

When the event was over, we helped to clean and in carrying the props that

were used in the event. We brought all the stuffs used back to the museo. On the

month of the “Coco Festival” , on our last day we helped in making the lanterns

that will be used for the festival and also made a chandelier made from bunots.
Summary of Work Immersion Duty

In our work immersion we were assigned on the Office of Tourism in San

Pablo City. Since it was a month for Christmas and a month near for the “Coco

Festival”, the office of Tourism was the busiest. We were tasked to help in all

upcoming events for the month of December and January, most of the work done

was decorating and paper works. For the first event the “Pascocohan”, there were

many paper works that were signed for the approval of the event. We also

encountered asking for the signature of the Mayor and for the approval of the event.

I also learned that in every event related to the promotion of the tourism in San

Pablo, the office of Tourism brings up all the effort and work for the improvement

and the promotion of the tourist spots in San Pablo.

There were also many products used for the decoration which is the

products produced by the city. Working for the office of Tourism was a great

experience, knowing the flow and process of the works their gave an idea of what

the work in real life is.
