EVIDENCE BASED RESEARCH
For my evidence-based research project my focus was on patients with wounds and the effects of
hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) versus no hyperbaric therapy and the outcome of faster healing time.
I choose this topic because in my experience with clinicals, many people in the hospital who had wounds
also had co-morbidities that cause problems with slow healing which increases other risks including
infection and amputation. HBOT allows the body to heal at a faster rate while reducing inflammation,
creating collateral circulation, and delivering more oxygen into deep tissues.
