ADMISSION UNDER COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH
PROGRAMME
The Giri Institute of Development Studies (GIDS), Lucknow is a National Institute of
advanced research in the field of Social Science. The Institute is one of the 25 Research
Institutes established across the country by the Indian Council of Social Science Research
(ICSSR), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The Institute is
also recognized by the Government of Uttar Pradesh for participation and carrying out
different research activities in the field of social sciences.

The GIDS has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Khwaja
Moinuddin Chishti Urdu, Arabi-Farsi University (KMCUAFU), Lucknow for undertaking
various academic activities including Ph.D programme at GIDS.

The Institute invites online applications for admission of candidates in Ph.D programme in
various Social Science disciplines. Being inter-disciplinary Ph.D programme, scholars of
disciplines like literature, languages and other streams are also eligible for admission
provided their topic of research addresses social issues.

The last date for the submission of online application is within one month from the date of
advertisement (15.01.2020). A hard copy of the same, along with all the necessary
documents must also reach GIDS office within a week after submission of online application.
The cost of the online application form is Rs. 1500/- for General/OBC candidates and
Rs.750/- for SC/ST which must be remitted through NEFT/RTGS to the GIDS Account. For
