Introduction
Corrosion inhibitors have been widely studied in many
industries to reduce the corrosion rate of metal surfaces in
contact with aggressive medium. Acidic solutions are
commonly used in various industries and applications
include acid pickling, industrial cleaning, acid rescaling, oil-
well acidification, and petrochemical processes. Among the
acid solutions, hydrochloric acid is one of the most widely
used in the pickling processes of metals.
Use of inhibitors is one of the most practical methods for
protection against corrosion especially in acid solutions to
prevent metal dissolution and acid consumption. Mild steel
in acid solution is widely used in various industrial processes
and corrosion of mild steel known to occur in this
environment. One of the effective methods to prevent
corrosion is the use of organic inhibitors. A great number of
scientific studies have been devoted to the subject of
corrosion inhibitors for mild steel in acidic media

Corrosion rating
First, in terms of temperature, it is classified into:
Corrosion due to high temperature
Corrosion due to low heat
Galvanic corrosion
As the temperature increases, the rate of reaction
between the material and the corrosive medium increases,
so the rate of corrosion increases. So by measuring the
reaction rate, we can calculate the lifetime of the tool.
Second, in terms of the surrounding environment

Weight Loss Method

Triplicate steel specimens were immersed in 100 mL of

electrolyte with and without the M. cerviana extract for 1,
24, and 72 hrs at room temperature. The cleaned
specimens were weighed before and after immersion into
the corrosive solution. The specimens were removed, rinsed
with water and acetone, and dried. The loss of weight of
the steel samples was determined using an analytical
balance with the precision of  mg. The weight loss
measurements were performed according to ASTM
standard G 31-72. The percentage inhibition efficiency (IE)
was obtained from the following equation:

Experimental part:
1- weight the metallic plate of any metal or alloy (w,)
2- immerse the plate in corrosive environment for tj and
then weighted after washing and drying with acetone (w1).
2- repeated the above process for t2, t3, ....and tr-
4- listed the data certain table to calculate the rate of
corrosion.

Discussion:
1- Define the corrosion and mention its types?
- Corrosion is the deterioration of the properties of the
base material as a result of a chemical or electrochemical
First, in terms of temperature, it is classified into:
Corrosion due to high temperature-Corrosion due to low
heat-Galvanic corrosion
Second, in terms of the surrounding environment, it is
classified into: Dry erosion - Moist erosion - Plastic erosion
2-What is the effect of aeration on the rate of corrosion?
Special cases affect the course of the corrosion process
and, consequently, the rate of corrosion. Among these
effects are the phenomenon of differential ventilation,
the emergence of the Concentration Cell and the
biological effects. The differential ventilation arises from
the difference in the concentration of oxygen on the
surface of the metal, while the concentrated cell arises
from the difference in the concentration of oxidized ions
on this surface. The biological effects arise due to the
presence of bacteria in the corrosive medium
3-What is the effect of Time of immersion on corrosion rate?
- The relationship between Immersion solution temperature
and corrosion rate, It is clear that the relationship between
the temperature of a solution
Immersion and corrosion rate are continuous, wherever
they occur
The temperature of the immersion solution is higher
than one degree
Room temperature The kinetic energy increases
For particles, this leads to an increase in velocity
Interaction between immersion solution and mineral
surfaceThis plays an important role in the formation
processThe protective film and on its thickness.

4-Discuss the relation between weight loss and time?

-The relationship between weight loss and time is an, The
more time increases the corrosion and the less weight
increases.
5- A copper pipe corrodes at 6 g/m.d in a certain
environment. What wou this rate be if expressed as mm/y?
density of Cu38.9 g/cm'?
- (1.44/38.9)*Rmmd=39.4Rmm/y
- 6 g/m.d *(100)= 600mg/m.d2
- 0.037*600=39.4Rmm/y
Rmm/y= 0.56 mm/year
