Col. Scott D. Gould took the reins of


Dugway Proving Ground during a change
of command ceremony Thursday morning,
replacing Col. Brant D. Hoskins after he served
his two-year stint as commander.
The change-of-command ceremony was
overseen by Maj. Gen. Joe K. Tyler, of U.S.
Army Test and Evaluation Command at
Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland.
Hoskins next assignment will be at Aberdeen.
In his comments, Tyler praised Hoskins for
his leadership at Dugway, acknowledging the
unique mission and demands of heading the
installation.
“(Hoskins) has brought energy and focus,
commitment and passion, and a vision to this
place that I think was appropriate for the
time,” he said.
During Hoskins’ time at Dugway Proving
Ground, the installation saw about 300 sepa-

K
nown as Utah’s oldest rodeo, the Bit N’ Spur brought
its annual cowboy competition to Deseret Peak on July
3rd and 4th with thrilling rides, ranch skills and a
firework show to put an exclamation mark at the end anoth-
er successful year celebrating 74 years of rodeo.
With $22,925.60 of prize money, over 200 cowboys and
cowgirls from across the state and west competed to take a
share of it home. Local Braydin Evans took the top spot in
calf roping and claimed over 1,000 in prize money. Anna
Bahe also earned over 1,000 in prize money and a the top
spot in breakaway roping.
With it’s 74th rodeo in the history books, fans and com-
petitors look forward to next year.
