Architectural Design-IV

Time: 6x2 Hours Max. Marks: 50

Note: Neat and correct presentation of design shall carry extra

weightage with in the marks distribution.

College Canteen:

An Architecture College in Delhi wants to construct a

full-fledged canteen catering to the needs of students and
staff members in its campus. The aim is to create a node for
hangout cum eating joint, which can become a focal point of
the campus. Canteen should be designed in such a way that it
not only serves the basic requirement of food and gathering,
but also it should reflect the ‘Delhi Islamic / Colonial
Architecture style’.
Site: The site is located at the back side of academic
block. The site area is 45 m x 90 m .It is located on the
corner, at the junction of two 3m wide interior roads of the
campus. The north side of the rectangular site is 90 m and it
also serves the back side of academic block,while the eastern
side is of 45 m and faces the front of student center. South
and west sides of the site touch the boundaries of the
playground.

Requirements:
 Indoor eating space for 50-60 students.
 Outdoor eating space for 25- 30 students.
 Kitchen having pantry with preparation space,
washing & store room.
  Toilets for students & staff.
 A magazine room of approx. 60 sqm.
 An indoor game hall of approx. 150 sqm for table
tennis, chess, chards etc.
 A Cyber café - 40 sqm
 An open air theatre for 25-30 students.

You are required to calculate the areas not mentioned, as

per the physical need and your designed layout.

Drawing required:

1. Concept with freehand sketches to show necessary

details. (5)
2. Floor Plan/Plans with Furniture layout, elevations and
sections (30)
3. Site plan showing location of your building with
respect to access road (10)
4. One perspective /Interior View (5)
