UNIT-I
1. a) Let the random variable X assumes three values 0, 1 and 2 with probability 1/3, 1/6 and 1/2 7 Marks
respectively. Obtain the distribution function of X.
b) Find the probability of event {X>2}, for a Gaussian random variable X, having ax =4 and 7 Marks

7. a) Use the method of false position, to find the fourth root of 32 correct to three decimal places. 7 Marks
b) Using Newton – Raphson method find real root of the equation 3x=cos x + 1. 7 Marks

8. a) Prove with usual notations (E1/2+E-1/2)(1+∆)1/2=2+∆ 7 Marks


b) Find the missing values in following data: 7 Marks

9. a) Find the cubic polynomial which takes the following values: f(0)=1,f(1)=2, f(2)=1,f(3)=10. 7 Marks
