Warranty Cases

Examples and instructions for warranty

The examples listed in this chapter are meant to

assist you in distinguishing between different

development and assembly faults (warranty cases) and

wear and tear or customer faults (cases excluded from

warranty). The examples that are shown are only meant

as a guide and do not lay any claim to being complete.

Warranty Cases

HD hoses / HDS appliances

Hoses of high-pressure appliances are subject to high
wear and tear due to abrasion when the appliances are
being operated and when the appliance is transported
to the place of use.
Further hoses can also get damaged if vehicles run
over them. Important images of failures have been
compiled in this section to assist the service technician
in assessing the cause of damage. This will also help in
deciding the warranty claim vis-a-vis the customer.
Our experience so far with hose examinations has been
that in 60 % to 70 % of the cases, the damage is to be
attributed to the customer and hence there is no
warranty claimed involved.

Abrasions on larger areas of the

hose can be caused due to hoses
being moved on rough surfaces.
This damage picture is not a case
for warranty claim.

Warranty Cases

Damages to the hose surface due to abrasion (non-warranty case)

Resulting damage: the damaged surface of the hose corrodes the wire braid;
the braid bursts followed by the bursting of the hose.

Warranty Cases

On these Home&Garden HD hoses, a

kinking of the hoses was determined
as a reason for the failure. This also
partially led to the hose covering
getting damaged.
These bends are caused at the
customer site mainly when the
customer pulls out the coiled HD hose
for use and does not pay attention to
the fact that while doing so he also
needs to turn the hose or this can also
happen when the customer makes a
coild with a very small diameter while
putting away the hose (no warranty)

High pressure hose

Example: HDS 801 E
This high pressure hose was laid
from the cylinder head to the
appliance manometer in such a way
that it came in contact with the
electrical box and got damaged due
to machine vibrations when the
appliance was in use. This is an
assembling defect. The hose is now
laid out differently (warranty case)

High pressure hose

Example: Hose from HD 10/25:
Pin holes due to braiding defects
during manufacturing (warranty
case)

Warranty Cases

Engines

Electrical motor HD/HDS Appliances

Example: Motor HD 10/21 water damage
The motor has major traces of water and dirt on the B bearing. There
are water residues and dirt deposits inside the motor. Rotor and stator
are corroded heavily. Dirt and water have penetrated inside the motor
through the B bearing causing the earthing to fail. This is a user fault.
The appliance was most probably operated in a water puddle.
(Customer's fault, not a warranty case)

Electrical motor HD/HDS Appliances

Example: Motor with winding damage
Finding: Motor has failed due to interterm short-circuit. The
winding is only burnt in a limited area.
Cause: Cause is perhaps due to initial damage during existing
damage of the winding insulation, or a foreign object, which has
worked its way through the winding enamel over time.

Suction turbine: Normal

wear and tear
of coal and collector
(no warranty)

Suction turbine: Collector

damage (fin lifter) due to
breaking pieces of coal
(warranty case)

Suction turbine:
Winding damage due to over-
heating caused by
heavy dirtying of the cold air slots
(no warranty)

Warranty Cases

Electric motor
Winding interruption. Material or
manufacturing defect.
(warranty case)

Electrical motor
Winding short due to water.
Devices and engines that are this
soiled and malfunction,
are not covered by warranty
because there is no evidence
of a material or manufacturing
defect.
(no warranty)

Spray pipe
Complaint: Rotor nozzle on spray
pipe broken
Cause: Excessive force
(not a warranty case)

Rotor nozzle:
Complaint: Bearing ring on rotor nozzle
broken

Warranty Cases

Heating coils in HDS appliances

Heating coil HDS Super
Manufacturing 05 / 04, date of malfunction 01 / 06.
Complaint: Heating coil is defective.
Cause : The heating coil is completely contaminated
and rusted due to lack of proper exhaust, connection to
unsuited chimney, covered exhaust stub, etc.
(no warranty)
Heating coil:
Complaint: Heating coil leaky
Cause: Outside of heating coil
severely rusted by
contamination, caused by
faulty chimney exhaust.
(Usage problem, no
warranty)

Heating coil:
Complaint: Heating coil plugged
Cause: Inside of heating coil clogged up
by faulty metering of
water softener or operation
without softening.
(Usage problem, no warranty)

Complaint: Leaky heating coil (pinholes)

Cause: Cause for failure is a hole
caused by high chlorine content
in the water or extremely soft
water
(Usage problem, no warranty)

Warranty Cases

KMR 1700 Main brush

Complaint: Overheated hydraulic motor

Cause: Failure cause is the sweeping, enveloping and non-removal of plastic
bands, wire pieces, ropes, etc. in the bearing and drive parts of the main
brush.
The rotation causes the enveloped parts to get stuck between the end of the
main brush and the drive; this will cause the typical error image. The
operating instructions of the KM devices requires and recommends the
regular removal of the abovementioned objects by the user.
(no warranty)

Steering head bearing BR / BD

75-90/140

Complaint: Bearing damaged

and corroded
Cause: The drive wheel
transports the
water toward the front when
driving forward, which can
penetrate the bearing.
Bearing design insufficient for
application.
(warranty case)

Warranty Cases

General VC filter systems

Complaint: Suction output of the appliances is too
low
Cause: very dirty filter
(no warranty)

VC Floor nozzles
Complaint: Floor nozzles broken
Cause: The floor nozzles were damaged by improper
use by the customer.
(no warranty)
