One might not be surprised to know that I'm among the 100 million subscribers of Netflix.

I am intrigued by the
fact that almost 80 percent of the time I come back to watch something on Netflix, I end up watching something
that is on the recommendation list of Netflix. It also simplifies my life by throwing recommendations of shows that
I have been binge watching and am on the verge of ending when I login late at night, whilst recommending
completely new shows that are longer, when I login during other times of the day. If Netflix could engage me on its
platform by an algorithm developed based on my watch history, searches, if or not I skip the credits before a show
or if I re-watch a show, I am convinced that the world can be transformed efficiently across all the sectors by
analyzing similar large chunks of data and coming up with personalized tailor made solutions catering to the
nature, behavior and needs of each individual.

In today’s market when there is a lot of clutter between creating a differentiation and creating value through one’s
offering, personalization is definitely a game changer since there is no one size that fits all. As I ventured deeper
into the concept piqued by my curiosity, I learnt that there were several other brands working towards this vision
one of which was Amazon-the ecommerce giant that I was working with. “Put something that someone might like
in front of them and they may well be overcome by a burning desire to buy it" has been implemented by amazon's
ad sales techniques through and through. Having developed a special interest in reading about how data science
and big data play a role in every aspect of our daily life, like route planning, congestion management and
healthcare as well, I wanted to be a part of this revolution where I could build my own anecdote from huge barrels
of data. Hence, I have decided to pursue my master’s in Business Analytics which is in line with my goals and
aspirations.

From studying electronics and instrumentation in my under graduation, starting my career with an IT firm to
mitigating risks on the largest ecommerce platform, my life has been a roller coaster ride, inspiring and thrilling at
the same time. On the last day of my internship with Ashok Leyland, I had asked my mentor for feedback. He said
“You have a knack of getting things done”. I was working on a cost cutting project for the company and it turned
out to be a big success. The analysis of the previous year’s data indicated that there was a scope for cost cutting if
the process could be automated. This was yet another one of my encounters with data based decision making. I
had saved the company 8.124 KW per year which had a direct effect on market and productivity. I was elated to
see how much I could contribute for the better optimization of resources of the company. It was at this point I
discovered that I had the ability to create a visible impact on a large organization’s bottom line.

I began my career with Wipro Technologies as a storage engineer. I was responsible for the uptime and
maintenance of servers of vital clients like JP Morgan and Bank of America. Since the profile involved critical
decision making and timely response, I could merge my problem solving skills with crisis management.

I moved on to my next stint with Zomato Media Pvt. Ltd., with an intent to assimilate the experience of working at
a Start-up. I took up the role of a client success associate where I was involved in generating leads for the sales
team and planning the various meetings to be scheduled with prospective clients. It was during these 9 months
that I learnt how to circumvent and go that extra mile, having worked closely with the business team and gathering
the knowledge of how business as an entity works.
Soon after, I got an opportunity to work with the e-commerce giant Amazon as a Transaction Risk Investigator . My
ongoing profile in Amazon is largely based on how individual sub minimal decisions taken on sellers can impinge
the entire business on large scale. My day to day job includes scrutinizing sellers based on available technical
information relying on my decision-making skills, the room for error being zero. I experience a deep sense of
satisfaction at my job knowing that I help Amazon’s platform be safe and secure for millions of customers all over
the world. A lot of the company’s goals are in line with my career goals; for instance, the liberty of decision making.
It is not wrong to say that Amazon has re-shaped me entirely as a new person and given me a chance to apply the
qualities I have developed over the years.

During the course of my journey with Amazon, I sought opportunities to develop my team management skills and
hence was chosen for the role of a WE CONNECT AMBASSADOR. As a part of this role, I connected with my team
on a fortnightly basis and worked on feedbacks shared by the team. This active connect has made me hone my
people management skills and has reinforced my belief of being an efficient team player.

In addition to achieving my personal and professional goals, I have always believed in giving back to the society. I
volunteered for Greenpeace at heart Environmental club when I was 6 years old. I started participating in rally’s
where I propagated the importance of planting trees among the rural masses. Growing up, I have narrowed my
contributions and have developed an interest in supporting the Autistic societies in Bangalore. I vividly recall
meeting a cousin who was diagnosed with Autism and discovered her inability to learn like a normal child. It was at
this point I coalesced my long-term goal of managing an institution and decided to set up a school for autism. I
would also like to pass on the skill of classical dance, which I have been learning for a period of 10 years now, to
the kids of the school I would be setting up.
