To Whom It May Concern:

At the risk of focusing on exteriors, Julia Binder could be the poster "child" of this new
generation of nurses coming up. After reviewing Julia's resume, you will also appreciate the
interior of her - a keen mind/brain and a big heart! Julia uses the "driven" in describing herself,
and it's true in the sense that she has worked and/or volunteered in outside healthcare groups
throughout her BSN years. If she hadn't strongly assertive herself throughout, she wouldn't
have been able to attain a solid 3.58 GPA - certainly an academic distinction. Julia does this
with what I would call- a certain sweetness that is quite refreshing - as you will learn when you
interview her.

Julia Binder was my student during her 10 week psychiatric/mental health nursing clinical
rotation last semester. As a clinical instructor/lecturer with fifty years experience in various
psych nursing areas, I have a unique opportunity to become acquainted with my students as
individuals. Since they're learning to use their own personalities as a therapeutic tool, I try to
help them get to know themselves more in depth and as members of a team on our four unit
inpatient facility. During our psych rotation, they also experience working with older adults,
pediatric therapy services, and intensive adult outpatient services. My goal for them is to
practice interpersonal relationship skills that can be generalized and applied to any nursing
endeavor they choose.

Now the usual (but true) description of the strengths and attributes that Julia will bring to your
organization: 1) a broad and in depth nursing knowledge base; 2) highly developed
technical/technology abilities; 3) excellent verbal/written communication skills and finally; 4) an
appreciation of the value of the continued application of evidenced-based nursing practice.

Julia Binder: Nurse Leader of the Future. Yes, either because of or in spite of Julia's sweet
demeanor, she rises to the top. Others value her opinion and look to her for leadership even if it
is just eliciting role modeling on her part. Maybe Julia's rather unique "take" on situations
(particularly crisis ones) challenged her peers. I wouldn't be surprised to see Julia quietly rise
up the ranks of your healthcare organization. Give her the opportunity to start on the ground
floor of your team. You'll bless the day you did!

Sincerely,

Susan Markovich, RN, MSN

Clinical Instructor
