Research is an important element throughout modern society and permeates almost every facet of
life. Effective research is necessary for successful policy making of all phases of the life. In
today's information-oriented environment, a manger/administrator cannot succeed without a
thorough understanding of the research process. Mangers/administrators are periodically
confronted with the need for consultant expertise to address critical management problems faced.
Many of these tasks involve research projects. Managing or conducting research as a consultant
requires an enormous range of skills and activities. As a manger/administrator client or to be a
good social researcher, you have to work with a wide range of people, understand the specific
methods used to conduct research, understand the subject being studied, to able to solicit the
funds to study it, keep the research on track and on schedule as well as speak and write
persuasively. This course covers all of the topics in a typical graduate course in social research
methods.
