Dear Karen Teetzel,

I am writing to express my desire to start my nursing career at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix,
Arizona through the New Graduate RN-Inpatient Nurse Resident Program. I will be graduating
with Honors in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Arizona.
I am excited about the open position in the RN-Inpatient Nurse Resident Program, and I feel that
this hospital could provide amazing opportunities and resources for me as I transition into my
nursing career. This year long program would provide me with extensive training and knowledge
that would greatly contribute to my first year as a new nurse.

My rigorous clinical and work experiences have prepared me to enter the nursing profession. I
am able to adapt quickly to stressful situations, which is a skill that will positively contribute to
any unit. I also have effective communication skills and feel confident working with other nurses
on a team. I also feel confident in overcoming challenging situations and I am able to think
quickly on my feet. I had the opportunity to work as a caregiver for a year and a half for an
elderly woman with Dementia. My time with her greatly contributed to my understanding of
what it means to put the patient first and provide compassionate, holistic care. I am also
extremely passionate about implementing evidenced-based care in the nursing field. I created
evidence-based recommendations for my Honors thesis, and it was chosen by the Western
Institute of Nursing to be presented in Portland, Oregon. Due to the recent emergence of
COVID-19 I will not be able to present; however, I am still grateful and honored for the
opportunity.

As a nurse I will strive to give every patient the highest quality of care that is centered around
them. I feel excited to start my career as a nurse and I look forward to learning more as a new
