PHILIPPINE HISTORY, CULTURE AND THE ARTS

QUIZ BEE 2019

A. General Rules
1. This Quiz Bee is open to all bona fide undergraduate, junior and senior high school
students enrolled the current semester of PUP Main and its branches and campuses.
2. The Quiz Bee shall be the first and final round to determine this year’s Philippine
History, Culture and the Arts Quiz Bee Champion.
3. A College/ branch/ campus/ department which is interested to participate shall
submit to the Office of the Dean, Institute of Technology, IT 202, photocopies of
registration form, latest 2x2” photo and Quiz Bee registration form of the
participant/s on or before September 10, 2019.
4. Student representative/s from each college/ branch/ campus/ department shall
receive a Certificate of Participation. The top three groups shall receive a Certificate
of Recognition, cash prizes, and medals.
5. The Quiz bee will be held on September 25, 2019, 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Bulwagang
Balagtas, NALLRC Building, PUP Main Campus. Participants are requested to be at
the venue 30 minutes before the start of the contest. Late participants will be
automatically disqualified.
6. Clarifications on the rules of the contest may be entertained by the committee
before the start of the contest proper.
7. Non-compliance to any of the above-stated rules shall be a ground for automatic
disqualification.

B. Contest Rules
1. The Quiz Bee Committee shall distribute whiteboards, markers and erasers among
the representing groups once all participants settled in their respective places.
2. The quizmasters shall read each question once, after which the question shall be
flashed on the screen. Participants are to write their answers after the quizmaster
signals with “GO”. Each group shall be given ten (10) seconds to write their answers
on their whiteboard.
3. The groups shall raise their whiteboards with answers and wait until the quizmaster
have finished evaluating all answers.
4. Questions on video clips, pictures or music will be shown or played on the screen.
5. Questions in the contest are categorized into three: Easy, Average, and Difficult.
6. Each of the three categories shall consist ten (10) questions on Philippine History,
Culture and Arts, as well as the PUP History.
7. Each correct answer is equivalent to one (1) point for the Easy Round, two (2) points
for the Average Round, and three (3) points for the Difficult Round.
8. In case of a tie, a clincher question shall be asked until a winner is declared. One (1)
point shall be credited for every correct answer to the tie-breaking question.

9. Only generally accepted spelling shall be considered as correct answers. Questions

which seek a person’s name shall be answered with a given name and surname.
10. Any protest on the preceding question shall be brought to the attention of the
quizmaster before the reading of the next question.
11. The decision of the board of judges shall be final and irrevocable.
12. Cheating and coaching by the audience and/or trainor shall immediately disqualify
the group from further participation in the contest.
13. The group with the highest accumulated score shall be declared as the Champion.
