Dilated Cardiomyopathy in association with Malignant tumor in a

Labrador

The case of a 7 year old Labrador with a malignant tumor and dilated cardiomyopathy
was described. Dog was presented to the clinic with history of the cutaneous nodules, reduced
feed and water intake, distension of the abdomen, distress and exercise intolerance. In
electrocardiographic record, reduced QRS complex and arrhythmia was recorded. Radiography
revealed ground glass appearance of the abdomen; ultrasonography revealed ascites with
variable echogenecity of liver lobes and hepatomegaly, echocardiography revealed systolic
failure. Immersion smears from cutaneous nodules were collected and examined. Details of the
study will be discussed.
