COMPONENTS

Mechanical Parts:
The tub is made of special plastic material. The tub cover is also made of plastic and is
attached to the tub with special fixing clamps. The main motor is attached to the tub with two
rubber grommet and a bolt. Placed behind the tub, on the right and the left and one on the top, are
one transport security bolt connection slots. One on top of, and one under the tub, there are two
concrete counterweights. The tub group is hooked onto the body from the sides by two springs.
There arc two horizontal shock absorbers at the bottom. The drum is made of stainless steel.
Dynamic system:
The tub is hooked onto the body with two springs. Besides, the tub is attached to the body
from the bottom by two friction type shock absorbers. The duty of the springs and the shock
absorbers is to conduct the vibrations caused at the tub to the body in order to damp the motion
and noise of the washing machine.

Program apparatus:
The programmer is a semi hybrid one with thermostop. Module is integrated with the
programmer (timer) and it controls the wash motor at appropriate speeds according to the program
as well as the timer motor for the pre-designed mechanical agitations and durations according to
the program and auxillary function selection. The set temperatures can be reached and controlled
with the aid of the module. The extra filling durations are calculated based on the water inlet
flowrate and the valves are activated for these durations by the module. Timer and module
connections are made via the card edge connecters on module.

Switch button group:

Two to four single-button groups are mounted on the K19 series models.

NTC and the temperature selection potentiometer:

As temperature sensor, the NTC which is used on our Orbital washing machines (2804980100) is
used also in K19 series W/Ms. For the temperature selection potentiometer, a new potentiometer
(2706690100) which allows 8 position selection from Cold to 90ºC is used.

K19 timer works with stop and go principle. In another saying it stays at the steps as long as a
specific duration which is determined by the circumstances and advances to the next position only
if this duration is completed or a condition is met.

With the aid of this principle it becomes possible to have a thermostop function without using
mechanical thermostop. The timer motor is stopped until the desired temperature is reached. Then
wash is made as long as a duration determined by the set temperature, program and the selected
auxillary function. Thus a considerable time can be saved at low temperature washes.

As it can be easily understood by the explanations above there is not a mechanical thermostat or a
relay on these washing machines. Heater is completely driven by the timer. Consequently if the
temperature selection knob is set to a lower temperature than the reached temperature during
heating, the heater could not be switched off immediately.

When the temperature is reached or when a temperature which is lower than the current
temperature is selected, the heating step is left till a step without heating is found. This takes 1-2
minutes.

Solenoid valve:
There is one solenoid wave the water is directed to the detergent drawer sections by mesas
of a cam, movement string, and arms that are connected to the programmer-shaft. Water flow is
directed to the pre-wash drawer in program A and to the main wash detergent drawer in programs
B, F,N and J. At the final rinse, water is directed to the softener drawer.
Pressure switch:
A pressure switch with one position safety contact is used. Level-one and safety level are
checked by the pressure switch. Timer controls 10 different water levels by calculating the flow
rate and taking water by time.
Heater:
A 1900 watt heater is used. There is a thermofuse on the heater. If the heater runs when
dry thermofuse trips. This heater can not be used again. Heater is energized only when there is
water inside the washing machine at least at the first level. When the desired temperature is
reached timer advances and the heater is disenergized.

Door lock:
PTC door-lock is used. When the door is closed, the PTC disk is healed up hence the door
is locked. After the program is terminated, the PTC is cooled down in max. 70 seconds and the
door is unlocked. Thus the door is prevented from opening during operation. The current in the
machine is flowed through the door lock. The machine does not operate when there is a problem
with the door lock.

Main motor:
The main motor is a universal series motor. It is controlled by on electronic module. The
motor rate is adjusted as the triggering angle is altered by the triac on the module depending on
the call from tacho.

Pump motor:
It is a Mono-phase synchronous motor. Current is conducted from the program apparatus
at empty-water phase. The circuit is closed over the door lock.

THE WATER DISTRIBUTOR ADJUSTMENT DIRECTIVE

PURPOSE:
This directive describes how to adjust water distributor mechanism properly after first
assembly and during service.

DESCRIPTION:
In this serie automatic washing machines, detergent or softener is carried into the tub by
passing water through one of pre-wash, main wash or softener compartments in the drawer. In
which compartment water flows is defined by a system directed by timer. This system is called
water distributor mechanism. Although the parts make up the mechanism might be at their
maximum or minimum tolerances, there is an adjustment part to provide the water flows toward the
right compartment at the right time. Mechanism can be adjusted to compensate the wrong
dimensions by using the adjustment part.

Figure 8
METHOD:
Adjusting the water distributor:
Adjustment has to be done while the timer position (timer knob)is at program A or D. When
the adjustment part is in the middle hole (adjustment part is mounted on the mentioned hole at the
assembly line), the triangle form on the water distributor housing should also be between the
adjustment line-segments on the detergent box cover. If so, there is no need to adjust, the
mechanism is all right (See Figure 8a).

If the triangle projection points a place out of the two lines, adjustment is required. Before
adjusting the mechanism, movement transmission wire assembly should be checked whether it is
placed in the right position and runs smoothly or not. Adjustment can be done in two directions:

a) If the triangle projection is on the right-hand side of the adjustment lines (figure 8b), the
adjustment part is turned clockwise(direction 1) and placed on the other hole. If the triangle does
not point the ideal position, it is turned one more hole at the same direction.

b) If the triangle projection is on the left-hand side of the adjustment lines (figure 8c), the
adjustment part is turned counterclockwise (direction 2) in order that the triangle points
somewhere between the lines.
If the triangle does not point the right position despite applying the directives described
above, there is probably a problem with the movement transmission wire assembly and the
mechanism should be checked with all the other components. If the problem is caused by mis-
assembling or the wire is being replaced for service requirement, the following steps should be
followed:
1) The wire is passed through the hole in the panel holder.
2) Plastic hose is leaned against the surface on the panel holder and mounted into the clips
on the sheet.
3) One of the windings at the end of the wire (providing that the end of the wire comes
down) should be pushed onto its place in the cam follower.
4) The other end of the plastic hose is mounted on the adjusting part and the other end of
the wire (providing that the end of the wire comes down) is assembled on the water
distributor housing.
5) It should also be checked carefully that the wire can be moved easily in the plastic hose
and the wire should not have been bent, broken or deformed in order not to make
mechanism’s movement harder.
The last inspection of the system:
After the adjustment, the timer knob is turned for two or three cycles. The knob is turned to
the position A. The washing machine is turned on and let water intake. At this stage, it should be
checked that only the pre-wash compartment in the drawer is flooded. After that the same
procedure is applied to the program B (it is obvious that water only flows into the main wash
compartment in the drawer this time).
