    Typical Marking required to appear on the materials

    SS Plate/Sheet

    1 ASTM A240 Type 316L Material Identification Number Cast/Heat Number Plate/Sheet size (LXWXT) Name or, Mark of manufacturer
    Marking shall appear on the plate/sheet at least two places

    If purchase from the reseller and he performed further operation on plate, then he must provide a declaration certificate with original and new marking

    SS Pipe

    2 ASTM A312 TP 316L SML/WLD Cast/Heat Number (Pipe size) NPS X” Sch XX Name or, Mark of manufacturer
    Marking shall appear on the pipe at least two places

    If purchase from the reseller and he performed further operation on pipe, then he must provide a declaration certificate with original and new marking

    Legend: LXWXT-Length X Width X Thickness, SML/WLD-Seamless/Welded, NPS-Nominal Pipe Size, Sch-Schedule
